We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lukas Pereira a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lukas, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
The legacy I want to build is for my work, for my photographs to be published in famous magazines nationally or worldwide, or to appear in important photography catalogs such as the Sony catalogue. I hope people say, oh! I met that photographer, he was very humble and did an excellent job, I really like his photos and he inspires me to be a good photographer.
I hope you remember me for doing a good job as a photographer and as a person, for providing good service, and for making other people feel comfortable and inspired.

Lukas, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
In 2019 I traveled to Tokyo for the first time and fell in love with that city and it was there where I took my first photographs as a beginner, it was at that moment that I fell in love with street photography. When I returned to my country my friend Jakuna (Javier Loyola) asked me to take some photos for his portfolio as a DJ, from that moment we started working together and I started covering his musical events, such as creamfields, monster beats and clubs of Electronic music events. Since then I have dedicated myself to covering different musical events and little by little I began to become interested in portrait and fashion photography and now I dedicate myself to all these areas, street photography, event photography with several top-level DJs and portrait photography and fashion with influencers from my country.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing about being a photographer is that you can make others happy with your work, you can show the world your way of seeing things and you can also show things that people did not know about and motivate them to try them or discover them for themselves.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped me the most were the contacts I generated over time, whether through the DJs or influencers I met or the club owners. and another thing is because of the quality of my service, the quality of the photographs and my way of interpreting what I saw on stage.
