Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenniffer Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jenniffer, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents instilled faith as my foundational fortitude, and a work ethic that will not quit. I saw them give to others as we struggled. They would simply say, “If we meet a need, God will never not meet ours.” They were absolutely correct, and my love to work and revere knowledge came from them as well; as they always believed in finding what was beautiful about the world, not wrong with it.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been in the healthcare arena for almost three years. I applied to our local hospital for years (quite literally 145 applications over the course of ten years). However, I wanted to help people on the way to healing, not realizing that I was on the same journey, spiritually. I was a front office business representative for a urology clinic in the hospital, then promotionally transferred to be a Precertification Specialist with patients as they got pre-registered for MRIs and other radiological tests. As of August 2023, I do the same role for a Gastrointestinal office. This brings pride and peace to my heart, because these tests help patients with preventing all types of GI issues. My father succumbed colon cancer, so I relate to patients daily by walking each of that ailment’s processes and providing options of help. I am most proud of and grateful of being to make a difference as I work, while honoring someone who raised me beautifully.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There are so many. However, the one added to all of the passion, focus, resilience and power and need to impact society is seeing my parents fall ill, due to strokes and cancer. To see or go through the daily changes and differences from age 16 to 32 with your father and he passes. Yet, your mom is dealing neuropathic residue from her stroke and aneurysm from years ago, as I care for my two wonderful children, everyday is a reminder to cherish and go after life. Good days are never given to an individual, they are made. My parents are my foundation. Yet, the circle of life cycled around for me caring for them while not being able to get the how this on how that works. I am grateful for God strengthening me to do so and how He has kept my family.
Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses.
Right before my father passed in 2017, he told me that I had to something to say, and whether he was around or not, I was going to do just that. By this time, I had studied Broadcast Journalism since 2004 at the University of Southern Mississippi. I loved storytelling and research. However, I was unsure how to channel. I knew that I felt so much about what was happening, but who wanted to hear that? How can I process it and not lose myself in that process? So, I started JaseSpeaks LLC in August 2020, its mission to change the world one mindset at a time. I registered through our state’s Secretary of State in Mississippi to form it online. This movement is done through a day in the life podcast called The Just JAS Podcast doing speaking engagements for women’s empowerment and domestic violence advocacy.
