We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jordan and Lindsey Plotner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jordan and Lindsey below.
Jordan and Lindsey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The first project that comes to mind is the one that brought us together. It began in late 2019 with a phone call. I had just been diagnosed with genital herpes while living in New York and trying to “make it” as a singer-songwriter. The phone call, scheduled by my producer, was with a composer in Los Angeles who would be remotely collaborating with me for my next song. I didn’t know this at the time, but that composer was recovering from an intense spinal fusion surgery, which he underwent after suffering a spinal leak caused by the rare connective tissue disorder Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I also didn’t know that he would end up being my husband!
We had collaborated on two original songs-fully remotely-when Quarantine started in March of 2020. A few weeks into the shut down, I texted Jordan and asked if he’d want to continue remotely collaborating. What came from that was a twenty song album, made fully remotely, the start of Ned and Wendy the Band, our decision to move in together in Los Angeles (without having ever met in person), and, of course, our love story. That album was called “Welcome Home Ned and Wendy”, and we released it in June of this year. -Lindsey
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Ned and Wendy the Band is a Portland-based alternative-folk duo formed by Lindsey and Jordan Plotner. Inspired by artists like Simon & Garfunkel, The Lumineers, and Regina Spektor, the married (and merry) musicians are on a mission to create joy, wonder, and kick ass music. You can find them playing live around Portland, and every First Wednesday of the month, they are the house band for local Northwest speakeasy Grandma’s Secret!
