Alright, Jarey thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

My mission behind my business is to pour into others especially women as a man in the hair industry I come across a lot of women with low self esteem all kinds of insecurities, they also feel like no one notices them they don’t feel beautiful they just need someone too pour out too and someone to pour into them to make them feel whole and complete again not only women but men too I’ve serviced men that feel the same exact way so it’s more so an overall look.

Jarey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Yes, hello my name is Jarey but you guys can call me jah I’m 22 years old I am from high point North Carolina I graduated from high school in 2019 and instantly joined cosmetology school right after at empire beauty school and there I consistently practiced and perfected my craft doing free services on my class mates and friends learning new methods taking celebrity hairstylist classes and courses to pick up new methods and tips. I started my hair business as just a hair stylist at first and shortly after I added in luxury raw hair extensions to make everything easier for me and my customers to know that they are getting very great top quality product as well as knowing that I am working with top tier products as well , spending thousands of dollars on trial and error products taught me very great money management and discipline when it comes too running a business you won’t always profit off of your business sometimes you will lose money from your business as well it’s best to organize and sort out all of your expenses and setting your pricing from there for example how much do you make and how much does your business make and also how much is your product cost and how often do you have to buy the product. I strictly and only use professional products to get the best results invest into your product and tools to get the best results. I provide just about every service there is I am a very diverse hairstylist but my number 1 selling service will be wig installs they are very popular and trending at the moment you have to grown with the hair industry don’t allow it to out grow you. Being that I am a hairstylist I’m sorta kinda a mentor or therapist too my clients that needs a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. My main goal right now as far as business is growing my clientele more getting my name out there a lot more to give back to the world because that’s what sets me apart from everyone , anyone can do your hair but that one on one time and zooming in on your clients to guide them in the right direction and also giving them a full walk through on the service that they are getting telling them your steps and what products and things your using for their service

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

The main lesson in this industry that I’ve learned is all money isn’t good money, small back story I’ve had a customer that posted she needed a service done allowed her to book without and appointment or deposit allowed her to come as late as she wanted and everything to come too her appointment and complain the entire time she went to social media and everything so don’t get money hungry because it just isn’t about the money.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Covid came and had the entire world in an uproar I was still in hair school at the time and I was stuck in between my career my job or life no one had any money no one could leave the house or anything it was very hard to manag between the three so I came up with selling hair extensions and providing deals that include hair extensions and the service to help everyone save money
