We were lucky to catch up with Megan Krepakevich recently and have shared our conversation below.
Megan, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I wholeheartedly believe that self-care is a harmonious blend of self-compassion and self-discipline; that true well-being encompasses not only indulging in moments of relaxation and self-love but also embracing the power of discipline to cultivate healthy habits and achieve personal growth.
My store is designed to empower you with both, bringing you a thoughtfully curated collection of self-care products that cater to your holistic well-being, recognizing that it’s a multi-faceted concept.
From organic bath and body essentials to relaxation and self-reflection tools, each item has been carefully selected from women-owned brands to enhance your self-care routine in our fast-paced world.
Megan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Like many, my path has not been a linear one, and my search for purpose has taken me down many career paths – from obtaining my degree in Criminal Justice, exploring my passion for beauty as a makeup artist, to finally finding my way here in the online space.
I’m sure you can relate – when you have big goals and aspirations, they are often accompanied by comparisons and ultra-high expectations of ourselves. Add in a dash of hustle culture, unrealistic body standards, and a highly curated social media landscape, and it’s easy to fall into self-criticism and feel like we’re never doing enough.
I’ve been diligently challenging this flawed perspective, and after developing strong self-care habits and routines, I’ve finally realized that prioritizing myself doesn’t detract from my goals; in fact, it empowers me to reach them even more effectively.
I began observing evidence of this in real time, noticing that when my cup is full, I am:
– a better partner
– happier
– more patient
– healthier
– more confident
– more empathetic
– better equipped to respond to setbacks
I still have a long way to go, but my hope that my community and online store can serve as a resource to support you on this journey of true self-care and self-compassion.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I personally have chosen to host my store on Shopify, and have not regretted it for one moment!
Shopify is super user friendly and contains so many tools to help you design a beautiful storefront, drive sales with app add-ons like progress bars to free shipping, and they have now introduced Shopify Collabs which makes it really easy for you to connect with creators and influencers and seamlessly run ambassador programs and partnerships.
I’ve also found that if I ever need support, Shopify is very attentive and hands-on, so I’ve never been left feeling like I’m sitting there Googling for hours trying to figure out everything on my own.
100% worth the investment in my opinion.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
You know, this may be a little counterintuitive, but recently I’ve been feeling more and more compelled to step away from resources, coaches and content that are providing business and social media advice. I’m learning that there is no one right answer, and it can get really confusing when you hear contradicting advice on any given topic. It’s easy to get caught up and feel paralyzed by not having the “perfect plan” when really getting started and trial and error give us the most feedback and data to work with. I’ve found that I am now taking all of the advice, tips and tricks that I’ve heard along the way and testing to see what works best for me, for my personality, for my creative type.
Not to say that there are not helpful resources, and I will drop my favs below, but I’m just saying don’t get tooo caught up in consuming, consuming, consuming without taking action and testing out what you’re learning for yourself.
Resources that have had a significant impact on my journey:
– The Stir Agency –> E-commerce group coaching program
– Mayarasousa.co –> Branding & E-commerce (LOVE her content)
– Erin May Henry –> Great for branding, finding your own personal power and style and letting go of some of those outdated business beliefs.
