Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Krystle O’Brien. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Krystle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Alright, buckle up for the journey!
So, there I was, armed with an idea and a burning desire to venture into the entrepreneurial realm with my own digital marketing agency. The first step was crystal clear: Research. I delved into the world of digital marketing trends, understanding the market demands, and identifying potential niches where my skills could shine.
After days of immersion in market research, I drafted a business plan. This wasn’t just any plan; it was my roadmap, my vision on paper. It outlined the services I wanted to offer, my target audience, and a strategy to stand out in the crowded digital landscape.
Next came the nitty-gritty details. Legalities. I registered my business, got the necessary licenses, and set up a legit entity. This step brought a mix of excitement and nerves; suddenly, it was all real.
Then, the crucial moment arrived: the launch. With a deep breath, I hit the button, and my agency was live! But, of course, it was just the beginning. Getting the word out was the next challenge. Social media became my best friend—I crafted engaging content, reached out to potential clients, and networked like there was no tomorrow.
The initial months were a rollercoaster. Clients started trickling in, and with each project, I honed my skills and expanded my portfolio. Every win fueled my motivation, but challenges lurked around every corner. Balancing client expectations, refining my service offerings, and keeping up with industry updates became my daily grind.
As the first year unfolded, so did my understanding of the business landscape. I invested time in professional development, attended industry events, and built a network of like-minded individuals. Collaboration became a key driver of growth.
Looking back, it wasn’t just about launching a business; it was about evolving with it. Learning from mistakes, adapting to changes, and staying ahead of the curve defined my entrepreneurial journey. It was a wild ride, filled with highs and lows, but the satisfaction of seeing my digital marketing agency thrive made every challenge worthwhile.
And that, my friend, is the story of how an idea evolved into a flourishing digital marketing venture.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
In the intricate tapestry of building a brand’s reputation within a community, authenticity, integrity, consistency, and community involvement are the threads that weave a lasting and impactful narrative. Authenticity forms the foundation, allowing a brand to be genuine and true to its core values. It establishes a real and relatable connection with the community, fostering trust. Integrity acts as the moral compass, guiding every decision and action, ensuring transparency and ethical conduct. Consistency is the steady heartbeat, creating a recognizable and dependable presence that resonates with the audience. By maintaining a consistent brand image and message, a sense of reliability is cultivated. However, the true heartbeat of community connection lies in active involvement. Engaging with and contributing to the community not only demonstrates a commitment beyond profit but also establishes a symbiotic relationship, where the brand becomes an integral part of the community’s story. Together, these elements not only build a reputation but cultivate a brand identity deeply rooted in the values of the community it serves.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to completely scale my first business back. I own a company called My Pristine Clean, professional cleaning services.
One invaluable lesson learned during my tenure as a young entrepreneur in the cleaning business was the critical importance of being a present and hands-on leader. Eager to explore the concept of being an “absent owner” for greater scalability, I initially distanced myself physically from the day-to-day operations, entrusting the team with autonomy.
However, this strategy soon backfired. I discovered that, especially in service-oriented industries like cleaning, consistent leadership and direct involvement are paramount. Issues that could have been swiftly addressed with immediate decision-making and on-the-ground presence were left unresolved, affecting the quality of service and team morale. This experience taught me that while delegation is essential, maintaining a physical connection with the business and leading by example is indispensable for fostering a motivated team and ensuring the sustained success of the enterprise.
