We were lucky to catch up with Hanan Hassan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hanan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
In my spa, I provide a diverse array of services aimed at addressing various skin concerns and enhancing the well-being of my clients. From targeted treatments like chemical peels and Microneedling to indulgent self-care options, my treatments cater to a wide spectrum of skincare needs. Recognizing the prevalence of acne, a common skin condition affecting approximately 50 million people annually in the United States, I have committed resources and invested in education to become a Certified Face Reality Acne Specialist spa. This certification enables me to expertly address different grades of acne, empowering my clients on their journey to achieve their best and healthiest skin.
One of my clients had been grappling with persistent acne for over a decade when she decided to embark on my acne bootcamp, diligently following my strict acne protocol. After just four treatments, I successfully guided her to achieve fully clear skin, with only minor acne scarring remaining. Remarkably, despite consulting multiple dermatologists over the past ten years, my client expressed that none had been as effective in clearing her skin as my Face Reality protocols. She not only regained her confidence but also attained the clear skin she had been longing for, all without resorting to prescription medications. Acknowledging the hereditary nature of acne, I emphasize the importance of proper treatments and specially formulated products in managing this condition. Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
A few years ago, I applied for an internship at a dermatology clinic as a Social Media Coordinator where I was then offered a role as a Marketing Coordinator.
During my time at the clinic, I’ve learned a lot about skin health and different skin needs from the diverse patient base. I’ve also learned that in my community, there is a lack of education about skin health and SPF use. I realized that clients would benefit from having a spa that provides proper education and services that are tailored to their needs.
Therefore, I decided to go back to school to get my AP Esthetics license. I opened my spa back in February 2023 and it has been growing gradually due to the need and demand that was present. I found my niche and clientele and I have been able to provide treatments for acne, hyperpigmentation specifically education on SPF, melasma, melanoma, and the side effects of bleaching.
What sets me apart from other businesses is my commitment to educating and teaching clients how to care for their skin, addressing factors such as sun exposure and the effects of bleaching and lightening treatments.
I would like your readers to know that 80% of skincare is done at home by clients and 20% is done at the spa. Having a consistent skincare routine and applying sunscreen will not only improve the look and feel of your skin but will protect your skin from cancer and sun damage and improve its overall health.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
In an era dominated by social media, one might assume it to be the primary driver of business growth, but in my experience, nothing has proven more effective than the power of word of mouth. I’ve come to realize that delivering result-driven treatments coupled with thorough education and clear communication builds a foundation of trust with clients. When clients trust your expertise and feel comfortable sharing their concerns, they become not only loyal customers but also enthusiastic advocates. This trust translates into them recommending my services to their family, friends, and colleagues. The ripple effect of word of mouth has been a potent and influential force in not only expanding my clientele but also in growing and sustaining my business.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The cornerstone of my approach is honesty and transparency when advising clients on the most suitable treatments and products for their skincare needs. I have often heard from clients about their previous experiences elsewhere, where they were overprescribed medication, received wrong treatments causing skin inflammation, and were sold products unsuitable for their skin type. Clients appreciate the opportunity to make informed decisions about their skincare journey, and my commitment to honesty and open communication has become a defining aspect of my services.
