We were lucky to catch up with Art Woody recently and have shared our conversation below.
Art, appreciate you joining us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
I’ve had a client whom I did several paintings for in the past. She had a son to pass away and she wanted me to do a painting that would be a remembrance of something her son loved. When she came to me with the idea I was excited about doing it. Her son had a favorite game titled “God of War. She asked me to do a painting with specific characters from the game. There was a point in the process I wasn’t happy with how it was turning out, so I stepped away from it because this painting was very important to me because it had a strong meaning behind it and it was an emotional piece for the client. I went back to work on it, changed some things around and her vision began to take shape. When I finally finished it and presented it to her, the smile on her face was everything I needed to know I succeeded in her vision.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well from a young age I developed a love for drawing. I would draw anything I could think off. My favorite thing to draw were cartoon characters. Art was always my favorite subject in school. I continued to perfect my craft through high school and college. But it wasn’t until 2017 when painting on a canvas became a thing to me. A friend asked me to do a painting for a project in her class, she gave me free range, after doing the painting for her, a light bulb lite up in my head and I thought “ hey I can really do this with some practice and dedication”.
My range of artwork don’t stop at painting on canvases. I paint on shoes, purses, wine glasses, coffee mugs, clothing, hats, bags, wooden letters, digital art, license plates, toy chests, and I’ve even painted pumpkins.
What sets me apart from others is my creative mind. Ideas are constantly swimming around in my head.
What I’m mostly proud of is the reaction I get from people who see my work. I love when I get a satisfied client. Sometimes I amaze my self. I give my all at everything I do, so my clients get my best efforts to leave them satisfied.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes. I would love for my art to go farther than just my city. I want my art in stores and homes all over the country. I want to keep pushing myself to get better.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My biggest source of new clients have been word of mouth. People see work that I’ve done for others and enquire about it. I’m often contacted for my services from people I don’t know mainly because of what I’ve done for others. Also social media is a very big source because people can view my work for themselves.
