We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nick Amelang. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nick below.
Hi Nick , thanks for joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
I always try to prioritize the less fortunate and causes that bring change. Whether that be someone born into a bad situation without the budget or doing a fund raising event for soldiers currently deployed in need of supplies. For such events I always give great discounts to my service along side donating to the cause. The hosts of the current deployed veterans event were over the moon that a vendor with a small roll in a much bigger cause would want to help as much as possible. I have never disappointed a client, my mission is to give an experience and make sure that everyone makes memories and learns something from that experience.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I began my business in the height of covid. I was working a job I didn’t necessarily enjoy and ended up being part of a large layoff. At the time I had a great friend to encourage me towards my passion. With that motivation I began the journey into spirits and the whole world from distilling to distribution. I found myself with a particular focus on bourbon and learning as much as I can. I found a market for the art of hunting bourbon, spirit education and mixology. I obtained my mixology certificate so I could diversify my portfolio from just private and corporate bourbon tasting to be a one stop shop for anything concerning creating a beautiful event. One thing that sets me apart is that in the 75+ events I have done I have always created craft cocktails never created before for the event theme or for an event with specific requests of something unique. I have the ability to deliver any kind of experience that one would ever want. I have the ability to bring more professionals for larger events as well so the company is growing and the future is exciting as I enter my 3rd year in business.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I have always worked. I created my first business when I was 12 as a pet sitter and landscaping. I have never asked for a penny from my parents since I was 12. During a very tough time my parents asked if they could give me the money to create an LLC. Everything I have now is because of them and my support system however they stepped in at an incredible moment when I needed that boost. Ever since then the business has been growing via word of mouth as well as referrals regularly.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Along side doing bourbon tasting from widely produced whiskey to rare. I do bourbon education classes as well as help my customers build a collection. When I had a surgery I ended up having to take time off my full time job. However I still I had bills to pay and even in the state of recovery I was able to lean on my bourbon business and reached out to my network to get me through my recovery by pushing myself and utilizing the amazing business partners and friends.
