We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ryan White a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ryan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
In 2018, I saw a rise in social media and how things were presented to the public. I like to stay ahead of the game so I started teaching myself how to use Canva, Google Analytics, Shopify, and Squarespace. After launching my eyewear business, I created my own graphics, promotional videos, social media pages, and packaging. It was also quite the experience to team up with other creatives to produce content. By 2020, I had carefully planned out a product launch and marketing strategy for my eyewear and completely sold out one week after the launch date. After other business owners noticed my profitable marketing strategies, they started reaching out to me for help. In 2021, the birth of my marketing agency came alive. The Ryan C Agency has provided services for multiple business owners across the DFW metroplex.
After helping multiple clients, I became eager to learn what the digital marketing field had to offer professionally and decided to go back to school. I graduated in May 2023 with an associate degree in Digital Media Technology and just received my professional certificate with Google for digital marketing and e-commerce. I had no intentions of going back to school but creating digital media for companies is something I love doing. I personally feel that when you do something you love, it’ll never feel like work. The only obstacle I kept facing was myself. Sometimes we get in our heads so much that we end up blocking our own blessings and opportunities.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a Dallas native who loves all things media. I am a social media influencer, digital marketing specialist, and an open-format DJ. I have worked with major brands like Lexus, Dallas Mavericks, and Forever 21. I was introduced to the world of radio in 2019 with Radio One and developed an even stronger passion for media. I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years and a digital content creator for 5 years. I’m very active in the community and enjoy giving back.
I have accomplished a lot in a little amount of time but it hasn’t been easy. As you grow as a person and business owner, sometimes the people around you have a hard time adjusting. I lost a lot of friends as I was elevating in my field and honestly didn’t know how to process it. My advice to everyone is to always remain kind. Being kind and respectful to others will get you so far in life. A lot of my opportunities came from treating people with respect. I am extremely proud to have all the accomplishments and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Excellent customer service is your best friend with a growing clientele. Sometimes we receive online orders with the wrong address and the customer gets upset at us like we made the mistake. How you respond to those crazy customer situations will set your business apart from other businesses. I see a lot of new business owners who have the perfect storefront or website but lack customer service. Without clientele, you can’t make money. I think all new business owners should take a skill development class online to learn tips and tricks to maintain customer loyalty.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my social media presence by being original and relatable. We live in a time where a video is always trending and people will repost and remake that content for weeks. Once we flood these social media channels with the same content, the only people who stand out are the ones with the relatable and original content. We also have to get rid of imposter syndrome. The imposter syndrome will kick in and have you second-guessing content like it’s not good enough. In order to build a skill, you have to start somewhere.
