We were lucky to catch up with Chris Cade recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chris , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I always enjoyed stories as a child. Whether it was books, TV shows, movies, or other other types of media, I was glad to add that story to my mental vault. Fast forward to now, I had already been big into script writing and film making, but I never thought about writing a book. What would I write? What could I give people in book form that could help solve a problem in their lives? I have always been close to God and studied the Bible. So much in fact that it has become my identity. God was leading me to write a book and my experience with the Bible becoming my identity, gave me my subject matter. My book is titled “Identity: How to Stop Living Without A Purpose”. I realized that this was truly how I wanted to help people and now I had abstract idea that I needed to turn concrete. When it came to writing the book, that was an even greater task. I realized that writing my book took a backseat to everything else because it takes discipline to sit still and type. With my other ventures, I am able to record myself rapping using audio software or use my camera to record my scripts that I wrote. I prayed about it and God said that I needed to focus in on my book and let my other ventures move to the bottom of my priority list. Once I got that instruction writing the book became second nature. I was able to finish my book in a span of a few months.
The fact that my dad wrote a book helped because he was able to give me insight and a platform when it came to publishing. I published my book under WyzeHouse Publishing and recently had my first book signing event. It went amazing and many people are still buying it.
I have learned that ideas come in abundance, but actually turning those ideas into a physical manifestation is tough. God would always tell me to bring all of my ideas to completion. I had to think, “if this one idea has the potential to take me to a higher level, imagine if I did the same with every idea that came to me.” I stopped imagining and made it happen.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Chris Cade and I like to call myself a media mogul. I am an author, producer, music artist, and film maker for the Kingdom of God. I have found that I am looking to solve two problems with my many forms of media: People do not know their true identity and people do not know their true purpose. I always knew that I wanted to make content about God, but what I didn’t know was the exact problem that I wanted to solve. I didn’t want it to be too broad, but in recent years I found exactly what I wanted to help people with. My main product that I am providing right now is my book “Identity: How to Stop Living Without A Purpose”. I know there are people that speak about knowing your identity and purpose, but I find that what sets me apart is looking at those topics from the creator/creation dynamic. Say that a computer came alive and wanted to know its identity and its purpose. Who would the computer ask? It could ask the owner of the computer, but to truly know the ins and outs of its makeup it would have to ask its creator.
When it comes to my brand I used to push “Chris Cade”. I thought that I needed to be in the spotlight to succeed, but I quickly learned that that is not the case. My dad taught me that you truly succeed when you focus on pushing something bigger than yourself. I decided that the Kingdom of God and Kingdom culture would be my thing. Since I made that decision, I have seen that my business has skyrocketed. I can’t and won’t go back to where I was.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson in my life that I had to unlearn is that if you make something that you think is great and put it out, you will immediately gain success and fame. It seems like we live in a “microwave society”. A society that wants what it wants and wants it right now. There is no problem with wanting it now, but I had to realize that just because I wanted it immediately didn’t mean that I was going to get it. I know this sounds like it would be obvious, but if you think about it, it is not. There are people that are putting things out whether it is art, music, videos, books, etc and are giving up when they don’t gain millions of viewers right then. I was this person. I felt like my stuff wasn’t good enough if I wasn’t blowing up like the celebrities that I felt this happened to. I learned that when someone is an “overnight success” this doesn’t mean they just started that night. Many times they were working on their craft for years and once they perfected it, they were able to showcase it to the right people and then gain success.
When we see that our favorite store is coming to our neighborhood, we know that it has to be built. This is the same with building anything. It takes laying one brick at a time and building until it is complete. Once I unlearned instant gratification and learned about building, I found success.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I have found that the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is create and perfect my solution to a problem I want to solve and put it as many places as I can. The people that are looking for a solution to that problem will find you. I used to think that my clientele were the ones around me, but this isn’t necessarily true. Many times they would support me because they loved me, but were they truly my clients? I am not saying they don’t have the potential to become clients, but what I am saying is to not be mad when they don’t support or buy everything you make. The audience for you will be searching for what you have. Continue to focus on creating ways for them to see you. Don’t focus on how long it is taking. Media takes time to circulate, but as it circulates, the people looking for your media begin to get hints of it. Work with the sites you are posting on. Be consistent and focused on putting out the best product you can. The best product you can. Do not compare yourself to others or try what they are trying. Be your authentic and organic self and care for the people. As you care more about solving their problems, they will seek you out.
I will end this with a few rhetorical questions and a statement. When you are sick who do you look for? When your teeth hurt who do you look for? When you want some food that is made fast who do you look for? When you have a need you do not wait for the solution to come to you. You go out and you search for it.
