We were lucky to catch up with Dani Guevarez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dani, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
In the competitive realm of my industry, individuals often pursue fame relentlessly, claiming they wouldn’t compromise their values, yet succumbing if the price is enticing. There’s a pervasive notion known as “selling your soul,” where for the right compensation, one might do anything for fame or wealth. Drawing from my 15 years of experience, I’ve reached a profound realization—an entertainer bears the responsibility of positively influencing others. Personally, I’m committed to influencing towards salvation. While my business isn’t exclusively Christian, I operate it with Christian principles, believing it’s the duty of Christians to radiate their light in ways that can bring about positive change on a grand scale.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a dedicated actress with a passion for both performing and teaching the art of acting. My journey into the industry began with a profound love for the craft, and over the years, I’ve evolved into a coach committed to refining actors’ skills.
Specializing in online coaching, I’ve successfully reached a global clientele. Through our collaborative efforts, my clients have secured roles, gained representation, and have fostered strong and trusting relationships. I take pride in the growth and success of those I mentor, and my commitment to elevating actors’ abilities sets me apart in the industry. I aim to convey to potential clients and followers that my brand is not just about acting but also about fostering a supportive and transformative journey in the world of performance.
Have you ever had to pivot?
After dedicating 4-5 years to pursuing acting full-time, I faced a pivotal moment that led me back to school for stability. I obtained a cosmetology license, leveraging a skill I had always possessed. Eventually, I secured my cosmetology instructor’s license, discovering a passion for teaching over practicing hair styling. Though acting continued to beckon, my teaching experience in the cosmetology classroom, where I honed skills in lesson planning and instructed adults, became invaluable. This pivot paved the way for me to teach actors the intricate blend of skill and business in the world of acting, merging my passion for both education and performance.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I underwent the process of unlearning the conventional notion of entertainment. The realization struck that being endowed with talent isn’t solely for personal pride but serves a higher purpose—God’s purpose. Understanding the deeper significance of my abilities shifted my perspective on entertainment. It’s no longer about self-glorification, fame, or popularity; instead, it’s about contributing to a greater cause. I’ve moved beyond acting and coaching for personal recognition, recognizing the transformative power of my craft to influence and reshape a society in need.
