Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Parthi Patel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Parthi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
The journey of establishing Intentional Therapy has been a fulfilling, yet challenging one. It all started with a vision to create a space that goes beyond traditional therapy, focusing on self-care, mindfulness, and genuine connection. The first step was defining our unique approach and values, setting us apart in the mental health landscape.
Building a team of passionate clinicians was pivotal. Collaborating with like-minded professionals who shared the vision of realistic mindfulness and genuine client connections added immense value. Challenges arose, particularly in marketing and generating leads. We learned the importance of a strong online presence and actively engaging in social media to connect with our audience.
Setting up our virtual practice brought its own set of challenges, from navigating technology to ensuring a seamless client experience. Flexibility and adaptability were key. Looking back, I’d emphasize the significance of solidifying a marketing strategy from the start. Investing time in effective online platforms and building a community around our brand proved crucial.
To young professionals considering starting their own practice, I’d say embrace your unique approach and values. Network with fellow professionals, invest in your online presence, and don’t shy away from leveraging platforms like Pinterest, Etsy, and Amazon for additional income streams. Learn from challenges, stay true to your vision, and be open to evolving with the ever-changing landscape of mental health practices.
Parthi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Parthi, the CEO & Founder of Intentional Therapy, PLLC. My journey into the mental health field stemmed from a deep passion for holistic well-being. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I envisioned a practice that went beyond conventional therapy, focusing on realsitic and non-traditional therapy.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Unlearning is a crucial aspect of personal and professional growth. One lesson I had to unlearn (and am still unlearning) was the idea that success is solely measured by constant productivity and achieving external milestones.
Early in my career, I found myself caught in the trap of perpetual busyness, equating it to success. The backstory involves societal expectations and a mindset ingrained in the hustle culture. It took a toll on my well-being, and I realized that true success encompasses balance, self-care, and meaningful connections.
The turning point came when I experienced burnout and recognized the importance of prioritizing mental health. I had to unlearn the notion that constant hustle equals success and embrace the idea that success is multifaceted, including personal well-being and fulfilling relationships. This shift not only improved my life but also influenced the culture within Intentional Therapy, emphasizing the value of self-care and realistic mindfulness for both our team and clients.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Fostering a positive team dynamic is paramount, and clear communication is at the heart of it. I’ve learned that openly expressing expectations and providing regular feedback builds trust, a cornerstone for maintaining high morale. Recognizing and appreciating the team’s efforts is equally crucial; acknowledging achievements, big and small, cultivates a positive work atmosphere.
Our work culture values collaboration, creativity, and mutual respect, creating a space where every team member feels a sense of belonging. Supporting professional development is a priority; investing in the growth of our team members enhances morale and contributes to their overall well-being. We also prioritize work-life balance, encouraging breaks and time off. Empowering the team with autonomy and ownership over their work, addressing issues promptly, and celebrating milestones together all contribute to a positive and thriving team culture. Leading by example, I aim to set a tone of integrity, enthusiasm, and a positive mindset, inspiring the entire Intentional Therapy team.
