Ken, appreciate you joining us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?

Years ago after the split up of my previous band. I was totally unaware what the future may hold. We were at a peak time in our career playing 3-4 shows every weekend! The timing was unexpected. For one, having our producer move 3 hours away, our songwriter choose to rejoin the military and was deployed to Afghanistan, and the most talented lyricist in our band got into trouble and was incarcerated. This was a heartbreaking time in my career.

So after months worry and stress, something on the inside spoke. That voice told me to “activate the greatness within.”. Therefore, I obey that little voice. I began to write again, stir that passion up. Shortly after, someone called to book me. I took the gig with no music, set list, or anything! …just sheer determination and obeying my guy!

Next, I booked a photoshoot to possibly get some PR going, hit the studio to get some song written, and worked on a set list. Therefore, I showed up to the gig by myself as a solo artist. The booking agent was expecting a group, “I kept quiet.”…lol

When it was time for my set, I slammed the stage like the young Bon Jovi! It was that moment, I knew I had something. It was my first gig as a solo artist and my first payment of $500 as a solo artist. After that night, I receive a booking to perform in Miami, FL by Conquer Entertainment. Therefore, I began to perfect my craft, develop a brand and the rest was history!

Ken, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My older brother inspired me at a young age! He showed me that “anything is possible” After watching him for years I began to study his art and style! No one knew I was learning or studying alternative hip-hop. By the age of 16 I received my first booking at a youth event and packed the house! Seeing the kids faces was life changing. From that point on, I knew I wanted to creat art that inspires and motivates.

Therefore my passion for music stirred a passion for speaking. One thing that separates our brand is we create art/music without profanity. Our core value is help individuals find purpose. We strive to create music and products that reflect. So to compliment the music we created the “I’m Different” brand which encourage individuals to embraces themselves, embrace originality, and embrace being authentic!

We are most proud that our movement spread throughout the sudden region like wildfire! We are excited to play our part to encourage our community that anything is possible

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

In my opinion, we cannot do everything on social media. Face to face marketing is still one of the most effective way to build a ecosystem. As emerging artist we have to find ways to get our family, friends, and fans off social media. Therefore, the face to face method has a great percentage to get people off the couch and to the show!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect is to do what you love for a living. Success is finding out WHY you were created and doing that! Once we find out our “WHY” it benefits US and benefits other people. Therefore, finding purpose is one of the best Win/Win situations!
