We were lucky to catch up with Anna Richt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, thanks for joining us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
I had only been a content creator for about a month when I got connected with the founder of a popular fitness brand. I was just starting out and had no accolades to show, so I thought it was the coolest thing ever when they offered to pay me a little bit for a review on my blog. They even threw in a little bit extra for some pictures of me modeling their product. Little did I know those pictures would make me the face of their marketing ads for the next two years. While the payment wasn’t huge by any means, it gave me something that was invaluable: confidence.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Anna. I’m a wife and mom of three living in Athens, GA. In 2019, I was a stay-at-home mom who decided to step into the world of social media content creation. My initial reason is that our daughter battles a rare and aggressive form of Crohn’s Disease and her treatments were very expensive. I started thinking of ways that I could contribute financially while also having the flexibility to care for my children. I was not very familiar with the world of content creation, but I had seen other women have success while raising their families, so I decided to try it out. I started posting pictures on Instagram of my outfits and at-home workouts. Looking back I have to laugh at those early posts because they were pretty terrible, but I learned as I went.
On any given day, I might create content by sharing an outfit idea, a glimpse into our family life, or partner with a business to bring awareness to their brand. While I’ve been fortunate to partner with some big name brands, I have a soft spot in my heart for local small businesses. I love working with them because I know their heart and soul is tied up into their business and I want to help them succeed.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I’ve really had to work on combating “imposter syndrome”. A perfect example is right now with you, doing this interview. There are so many interesting and talented creators, so it’s very easy to feel undeserving of opportunities like this one. Sometimes it seems like everyone else has the world of social media figured out while I feel lost. What I’ve realized is that comparison is a trap. Social media marketing is always changing and the creative process looks different for everyone. What you have to offer is valuable and unique because there is no other YOU in this world.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
While making sure my daughter’s medical expenses were covered was the catalyst, it has really become so much more. I truly love what I do. I can’t believe the opportunities that have come from this and the relationships I’ve built along the way. I don’t take it lightly. I’m so grateful for the people who have decided to follow along and trust my recommendations, and knowing that I’ve helped them even in small ways is what fuels me.
