Sharon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later

If I could go back in time I would have definitely started my business sooner. I actually got the “calling” into entrepreneurship 4 years prior to venturing out. Had I started sooner, I would have scaled my business and expanded into multiple locations by now. My experience would have changed because I would have realized and confronted the “self-saboteur” and tackled my fears and apprehensions early on. I wish I had started sooner.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

SA Financials is an Accounting and Tax service company that while is based out of South Florida, serves the entire US and its Territories. We pride ourselves in providing financial literacy along with all of our services and are proactive in staying ahead of potential tax issues. We stay abreast of ever changing tax laws and pass that information down to our client. What sets us apart from our competitors is our audit ready bookkeeping services. We also offer various financial services like business plans, notary services, full service payroll and more.

We are most proud of the personable service we provide to all our customers especially our small business owners. We feel the most fulfilled when we are able to give complimentary financial literacy consultations to our small business community so they can present themselves to lenders for funding they may not otherwise get approved for. We know all too well what it feels like to be a small fish in a big pond, and because of that we want small businesses to know that while they may be small, they are a powerful part of the bigger picture.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Marketing is one of the most important parts of scaling your business. What helped build my reputation within my market was becoming my own brand. I started off by posting my services on social media and I was not getting any hits. I got no likes or engagement and no one was interested in what I was offering. Then I met with a colleague and lifestyle coach and he advised me to create more of a social media presence for myself. His advice: “when people like you, they’re more apt to buy your service or your product.” Well, it worked. I hear all the time that I’m not your average Accountant. Accountants are usually described as older men in oversized suits with glasses on their noses and a pencil in their mouths. That’s hilarious to me because if I had to describe an Accountant, I would probably say the same Ha!

I created a likeable, professional but approachable presence on social media and my reputation took off. Eventually, I began to advertise my business and services and I started to receive hits. I then created business social media pages and I started getting hits there as well. It was not overnight. It took some time to catch momentum but it worked.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

One of the most important lessons I had to unlearn was that a small business doesn’t equal a small mind. Oddly enough, I can’t say I was ever taught that by anyone, but the “self-saboteur” makes you believe that as a small business you can’t really make a big impact. That is a lie if I’ve ever heard one. If you believe in the service you provide or the product that you sell, then you are in a position to create big waves in a big ocean, even as a small business. Continue to believe in yourself and your product and you will go far. It might not be fast, but it will happen. I’ve proven it.
