We are lucky to catch up with Ernest Musik recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ernest, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I knew that I wanted to be an artist was when I heard a song at the age of five by D’Angelo entitled “Brown Sugar”, From that moment on I was captivated with learning more about music and investing in my craft.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Ernest Musik is a very gifted Singer/Songwriter/Producer, originally from Cleburne Texas found his calling in music his freshman year of high school while performing in front of a crowd, ever since then I have been working hard on crafting my skills into perfection and refuse to be known as one who is limited to only one genera style because my talent is versatile. In my earlier years, I had been in numerous vocal groups but in 2013 I decided to go in a different direction and pursue being a full-fledged solo artist as well as rededicating my life to the Most High. I am the proud founder of the Independent Recording and Filming production company “EM.ENT” formally known as GPUAO, From 2017- Nov 2021 I was signed with Renew Your Mind Records and released two independent albums “From the Heart” and “One Journey To Another” But as of Dec 2021 I will be releasing all future projects on his own label “EM.ENT”. Currently, I am working on my next EP “The Ernest Musik Experience” which is set to be released in 2025.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I was once told by a very important figure in the music industry that “Not everyone is meant to go on your journey with you”, What I learned from that statement is that in order to get to where you want in your career, It requires you to remove the loose baggage in your life that stops you from reaching your destiny.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect would be for me in particular is releasing the content that I want to release instead of what everyone else would like from you. Being authentically me is important as a creative because it challenges me to be different, to be bold in the art that I share with the world.
