We were lucky to catch up with Heather Tapia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Heather, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
A big risk I have taken was hosting a huge Solo Art show at my home with just a month to plan and execute the event.
I decided to share my world and my vision/ creativity by turning my entire home into an Art Gallery!
It was quite a challenge because I created all of the invitations and hand addressed them with a personal note to each guest, created the entire line of merchandise and completed new art work for the show.
I had been creating my home into an environment of Art for myself and my family to make it really special to each individual family member for about three months prior to deciding to host the show. It was when I had a friend come over and she commented on how my home really showed my artistic vision and how you can use art in your home, that I was like, I need to share this with my Collectors and close friends to inspire them to use art in their lives!
This reaffirmed my idea to host a show like this!
And because we are heading into the Holiday Season, I created a Holiday shop filled with custom merchandise with my Artwork on it. I had a custom jacket, custom tote bags, note cards, ornaments, prints, etc… created, so that every guest could find the perfect gift to take home beautiful art.
I made sure to curate the best food and drink selection so that it would be a pleasurable experience all the way around.
I assembled a team of incredibly talented staff to help me the pull the event off! I even had a coffee truck come to make everyone delicious lattes, cappuccinos, or whatever they liked!
The weather was beautiful, so many guests were able to spend time together chatting on my back patio while they enjoyed my freshly planted garden.
The show was a total success! I did my highest volume in Art sales that day and gained many new satisfied collectors. And the excitement from the show continues! I have been giving private tours of the show each day since and my Art is going home with new Collectors each day!

Heather, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Fine Artist who started doing art at the age of 3. I always loved to draw and paint and create.
Starting in middle school, I started to attend formal schooling in the Arts and was taught by professional artists.
I always knew that I would do art because I knew that I would do what I loved and spend my time creating.
It came naturally for me and since the age of 12, I would sell my art to people who would come to my house and observe what I was working on.
What sets me apart is my vibrant, colorful style. I love color and design and that gives a lot of life and joy to my work.
The other thing that makes me unique is that I have a niche of painting Ultrasound Art for pregnant woman. This has been an extremely successful and fun part of my Artistic endeavor! I get to be part of the most important moment in other’s lives and give them a gorgeous piece of art of their child’s ultrasound.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal driving my creative journey is to uplift our society through art! Art that speaks to them or captures something special in their lives.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being an Artist is creating a work of art that My Collector truly loves and that adds value to their lives.
