We recently connected with Amber Susa and have shared our conversation below.
Amber, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
After twelve years of owning a brick-and-mortar business in the fitness & wellness industry, I took a risk and made the courageous decision to let the physical space go and pursue other passions. I believe we all have a unique mission and purpose, and how that manifests changes over the course of our evolution. I opened my first fitness business in 2011, and after experiencing a dark night of the soul and spiritual awaking in 2014 I was led to open another business with an emphasis on holistic heath and healing (Allomi). My mission and purpose continues to expand and how I feel called to show up also expands. I wrote and performed my one-woman-show, “Waking Up To All Of Me” last year, and in January 2024 my first book, “Born To Be All Of Me” will be released. I am passionate about coaching and guiding other women to align with their unique passion and purpose; I continue to teach empowered dance classes both virtually and in-person. I am co-hosting a podcast series called, “The Embodied Woman” and enjoy sharing my story as a speaker, storyteller and performer. I step outside my comfort zone and relentlessly heed the call of my Soul, riding this great adventure called life.
Amber, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was the founder and co-owner of HIP Studio, a boutique high-intensity Pilates and fitness studio in Hermosa Beach, CA from 2011-2017. I am the founder and sole owner of Allomi (all-of-me), a holistic health and healing studio in Redondo Beach, CA bringing together movement, meditation and mindfulness. Allomi’s physical space opened in 2018 and closed in 2023. Allomi continues to provide in-person classes and workshops at various locations. I made the decision to expand beyond the four walls of the brick-and-mortar and focus all my energy and attention on my Divine life purpose and mission. As a spiritual guide and mentor, I share my personal experience and wisdom gained through navigating entrepreneurship, motherhood, divorce, healing addictive patterns and more, and truly aligning with my Soul and becoming the woman I was born to be. My book, “Born To Be All Of Me” will be released January 22, 2024 and I look forward to sharing my message of healing far and wide. I also continue to teach an empowered cardio dance class and find it to be one of the most empowering and embodying practices I have. I am the co-host of “The Embodied Woman” podcast series, sharing other women’s stories of healing, empowerment and true embodiment.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In February 2020 I made the decision to let go of alcohol and face my life with full clarity and presence. I knew I had some difficult choices to make, and alcohol had become a negative coping strategy. I invested in working with a mentor and healer and got the support I needed. In March 2020 Covid happened and I navigated taking my brick-and-mortar business online, continuing to serve my community through a very challenging time. In June 2020 I left a painful marriage that was no longer in alignment with my true Soul Self and moved in with parents until I found a place of my own in January 2021. I have been able to show up as a Mother to my two young children in a way I feel very proud of. I took my pain and turned it into my purpose by writing and performing my one-woman-show, “Waking Up To All Of Me” in the Hollywood Fringe Festival summer of 2023. Throughout it all I have maintained my practices of meditation, movement and mindfulness. I have used all the tools I’ve learned over the past nine years to become the woman, mother and leader I was born to be. One of my greatest gifts is optimism, and I am so grateful for the resilience that continues to show up time and time again. My resilience gives me the strength to move forward and support other women going through similar challenges. I have an unshakeable faith and belief in my reason for being, and although it’s not always easy, I know I have everything I need to be the woman I was born to be, and to support others in becoming all of who they were born to be.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Today I am the co-host of the podcast series, “The Embodied Woman”. My co-host and dear friend is Siri Baruc Thornton from Sage + Blush Wellness.
In 2014 a dark night of the Soul led me to a spiritual awakening and healing journey, and I have been saying yes to the call of my Soul ever since. I recently discovered spiritual teacher, Cathy Heller, and enrolled in one of her courses. It was another Yes to my Soul’s request and following my inner guidance. I met Siri in a breakout room in Cathy’s virtual course, “Abundant Ever After” and immediately felt drawn to her. I had been wanting to host a podcast for some time, but hadn’t taken the leap. As my friendship with Siri grew, it became clear we were in full alignment with our Divine purpose and mission to support other women. We decided to come together and co-host a podcast that we both felt very passionate about. It is a beautiful partnership and collaboration where we both get to bring our greatest gifts and do what we love. When I enrolled in Cathy Heller’s course, I had no idea I would be meeting my future best friend and business partner. This is the magical thing about saying yes to the call of our Soul … it takes us adventures we never expected and introduces us to people we never would have met otherwise.
