We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful BIZZY. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with BIZZY below.
BIZZY, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
The biggest risk I’ve taken was putting myself out there as an artist. Not a day goes by where I’m not so incredibly thankful that I did. It was so scary and vulnerable, but I have never felt more me in my life.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi my name is BIZZY! I’m an indie pop artist from Maryland. Growing up, I was always the jock of the family – swimming was my main sport. I wanted to be in the Olympics, which is so funny to think about now. I injured my back when I was 17 and couldn’t compete at the level I was competing at, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It switched my focus to music. I applied to Belmont University for college and dove head first into songwriting. I always knew I wanted to be an artist but was so freaking scared that for 4 years I just wrote for other people. It wasn’t until 2020 that I realized the only reason I wasn’t releasing music as an artist was because of fear, and that’s no reason at all. I put my first song out about a year and a half ago, and have just been learning and growing as much as possible!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I think the biggest goal driving my creative journey is authenticity. Keeping that at the forefront of my mind has helped me so much. It challenges me to say things I’m really feeling rather than just sugar coating things.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think there’s two things for me. First, is that it allows me to process my emotions and feelings in such a beautiful way, almost like taking a photograph that I can look back on and see how far I’ve come. Second, the fans! Hearing stories about how people all over the world relate to my music is truly the most magical thing in the WORLD.
