We were lucky to catch up with Sevyn Bevoy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sevyn , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
You are your biggest critic and the only person that can stop you. How do you know what you can do if you don’t take a risk? You take a risk everyday just stepping outside the door and you don’t stop yourself from doing that. So whatever it is, at least try it once. I took a risk to by putting myself out there to attempt modeling in another country and if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be where I am now.

Sevyn , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Sevyn Bevoy, it’s the name and the brand. The goal is to use modeling be it high fashion or other creative works is to encourage everyone to be all of them, every version of themselves. Sky is the limit.
I got into modeling when I was younger, but I honestly thought it was all about frilly dresses as I was introduced to pageantry. Because of this, I was in and out of interest. As I got older, exploring various creative outlets I realized that modeling is another form of art. I always played dress up and had fashion shows as a kid but when you can make a statement it sheds a new light on the world so to speak.
Trying to regain some self confidence I got back into the industry, special shout out to all the photographers and organizations that worked/work with me, yall are awesome! I genuinely found a new love for the art. When taking photos it’s like stepping outside myself into a different person, each time I change my clothes lol. A chameleon if you will.
Throughout my experiences, I am grateful most for growth because again there is no limit unless you set it. If you stop yourself or doubt yourself growth can become nonexistent.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Long story short, I’m short (5’1) and am a model. The fact that I’m even making it into a magazine sometimes surprises me because the industry still heavily wants models 5’7 and 0-6. But I’m still here.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal is to be a role model who instills confidence in young girls and bring awareness to various issues through creative outlets. And I enjoy modeling and being a creative. I can tell a story without even speaking.
