We recently connected with Robby Nguyen and have shared our conversation below.
Robby, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Willingness to adapt and change. Real estate is a make-or-break industry. Many first-time agents quit after their first year, I almost did! But I held on, persevered, and came up with systems to better my business. I think one of the biggest faults of being an entrepreneur is that sometimes we find ourselves in a pit of pride, thinking our way of initially doing things is the only right way. This leads us to not max out our full potential. After my first year of real estate, which was my worst year, I sat down and re-wrote my game plan. I swallowed my pride and reached out to dozens of agents to see what made them successful in their own businesses. I took what was wrong with my business plan and implemented new structures that in return led me to have an extremely successful second year of business. I am still adapting, and still learning, and from that, I have seen my business grow greatly! If you aren’t willing to change and adapt for the better, you will always be limited.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Robby Nguyen. I am a real estate agent in the St. Louis and Metro East Area. I am also the leader and founder of the Dove & Olive Realty Team.
I’ve always been interested in the real estate industry. Initially more on the investment side, but during the pandemic, I had the opportunity to do the course work to become an agent and thought “Why not”. After completing the coursework online, I ended up finding KW Marquee as my home brokerage. Since then I have sold over 8 million in real estate in just a few short years, but more importantly, I’ve gotten to connect with and help dozens of different types of people. From first-time home buyers to big-shot investors.
I take pride in making a way and educating potential home buyers and sellers. In a world where you can go to a website and click “sell my home” without any prior education on options, I find it extremely important to be able to fully educate my clients to make sure they are getting the best deal possible.
My real estate team that I recently founded, The Dove & Olive Realty Team, is my current pride and joy. We are a faith-based team, which is very important to me. Having team members who have similar beliefs and carry on that representation to even more buyers and sellers is such an amazing thing. I am so excited to see where this team goes!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think one of the biggest advantages I have used to help build my and my team’s reputation is marketing. I went to school for marketing, as did a couple of my team members. Real estate is a career where many agents know the importance of good marketing but implement it. I honestly believe that much of my success is based on the creative marketing and branding that is implemented in my businesses. From engaging ads to relative and clean social media posts, the marketing quality shown in my business is not common to see in this industry.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Real estate is relational. The best source I have found is relationships. Referrals are the lifeblood of my business. But outside that, going out and making new relationships. We often overlook the greatest areas to lead gen. Places like churches, small groups, and family/friend get-togethers are the best way to find new clients. Someone knows someone who knows someone that wants to buy or sell a home. Making that first connection can (and has for me) lead to new business opportunities!
