We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jaddey Vargas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jaddey below.
Jaddey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
My lifelong goal is to inspire everyone around me to believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. I don’t have everything figured out, and I don’t expect to. I simply want to demonstrate that my legacy was constructed from the ground up. This means persevering through the many times I thought I would fail and hustling my way to becoming the woman I dream of being every night. I’m a dream chaser, and that’s the legacy I want to leave behind when my time comes

Jaddey, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My love for beauty and fashion began at a young age. I have fond memories of watching my mom return home from her hair appointments. I was always curious about the salon environment, something I’m sure many stylists can relate to. I used to cut my dolls’ hair and even asked for mannequin heads as Christmas presents. For some reason, I set up my own little workstation in the kitchen at home. I would spend hours watching YouTube hair tutorials and eagerly show my parents the results when I finished.
In middle school, I experimented with a different hairstyle every day, which eventually led to my passion for makeup and looking my best for school. Fast forward to my freshman year in high school, and I was certain I wanted to graduate and attend cosmetology school, which is precisely what I did. There, I found my calling in working with curly hair. Having curly hair myself, I never really knew how to care for them properly until I did my own research on cutting, styling, and creating a routine. I wanted to help other women embrace their curls just as I had, which inspired me to start my own business, (@Jadedcurlss). However, my journey doesn’t end there. I know there are many talents waiting to be discovered, and with the help of God, I’m growing and expanding my brand every day.
I’m proud of the woman I’m becoming, and I’m getting closer to the woman I’ve always dreamt of becoming. I genuinely appreciate everyone who supports and believes in me, even on those days when I struggle to believe in myself. My dreams are coming true, and I’m excited for everyone to see what else I have in store.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My start in the creative hairstyling space was a huge leap of faith. I began my career in this space almost a year ago now, with no prior experience in photography work, but a strong will to make art. I approach the creative stylist industry with open arms and I hustled to learn. Now, almost a year later of being in the industry I’ve not only learned how to express my artistic desires through my work but create art from scratch. I was Solely focusing on being a “modern” salon stylist. Pushing the boundaries of what a “stylist” can be and breaking boundaries in the beauty industry. Being the modern day salon stylist. Growing up and wanting to break boundaries of what a “typical” stylist is known to do. Expanding beyond a hairstylist to different realms of the beauty and fashion industry.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
It’s easy to feel the pressure of the world and conform to the ‘reality’ that surrounds us as we grow up. There are many differences, and it can be challenging to understand ourselves. I always knew I was different, but for a long time, I underestimated my own potential.
I aspired to be more than just a hairstylist because I sensed there was a deeper talent within me. Battling with myself held me back from realizing my true passion for creating art. Once I delved into that creative space, my mind felt liberated. This liberation wasn’t just evident in my work; it transformed me. I was so captivated by it that, when you love what you do, it no longer feels like work; it becomes destiny.
Remember, if you can visualize it in your mind, you can manifest it in your life. Our minds attract the ideas we hold within. So, I started to believe in myself and found daily inspiration in the beauty and creativity around me. I firmly believe that art is life’s purpose, and life would be empty without it.
I want to emphasize that God has been the one guiding me through every road I’ve encountered. My relationship with God, whether I’m at a peak or in a valley, has drawn me closer and made me closer to myself.
