We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shatoria Christian a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Shatoria, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Mission for people is so important to me, as people need people. My mission is encouragement, motivational love, and showing what peace can look like. It’s not easy being on a mission where you feel you are alone; however, I have been able to have a team that helps me show others what love and peace is. My mission in life is to encourage through affirmations, social media, being an author, and having summits that allow people to get what is needed in person. If I get to just one, I have done what I was called to do.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My brand is simple. It’s I Am Shatoria. I believe in motivation and encouragement. I love positive people and embracing that this is needed to survive and that with this brand, the goal is to hear, listen, and welcome. I am a speaker, worldwide speak, author, and now publisher
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience is one of the hardest things to connect to when you have no fundamental understanding of self-love. I had to learn to embrace self-care and realize I needed a break. I had to change up things and the people around me to have the peace I needed to give my all in everything. I have learned to take mental health days, which include massages, nails day, and just staying in bed for the moment. Spending time with friends and family is essential as well. Resilience is vital to my daily health and my mindset.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
The goal for going full-time is the summer of 2024. I am excited about this as I have worked for others since I was 15. I am excited to have my own business as a full-time business. I started this business during one of the most challenging times in our life, COVID-19, and I couldn’t believe I was starting over in a company—a business in speaking at that. However, God saw fit for me to be me in my business. Finding those key moments that turn into milestones speaks highly. I have worked so hard to hit milestones that I didn’t know I had in me and didn’t know it was for me. It is the best choice ever made. Some key milestones are trusting myself, trusting my team, trusting God, and being honest. This pays off more than anything because being in faith is essential to growth.
