We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gina Scott. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gina below.
Hi Gina, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The Doris Marie Jones Foundation, Benefiting Alzheimer’s Caregivers, honoring my Sweet Mom, who passed away August of 2017 from this crazy illness call Alzheimers. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2013. Mom was a 1st grade teacher with a Masters Degree in Education, awesome Mom, Wife, Grand Mother, a Giver, Aunt, Sister and a dedicated Caregiver to her Dad who also had Alzheimers, but did that STOP this crazy disease. No it did not!
Being a Caregiver is very challenging and not easy by no means. It’s tiresome, overwhelming and you have to give up a lot, but all those things were worth it for me, because she was my Sweet Lil Angel.
After her passing, I wanted to keep her legacy going by continuing to do something that I knew she would be PROUD of, “Giving Back to Alzheimer’s Caregivers”
My brother and I began the 501©(3) Foundation to assist Alzheimer’s Caregivers in December 2017 and to let them know they are not alone on this crazy journey.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

July 29, 2017, I was chosen, by Shackle Free Marketing & Associates, as Business Woman of the Year, in appreciation for all of the hard work and support to families caring for Alzheimer’s Relatives and Friends. September 1, 2017, I was chosen as The Womens Alzheimer’s Movement Caregiver of the Week(Maria Shriver, Founder) and in 2019, I was chosen as the Non Profit Business of the Year, by The Grind, here in Mobile, AL.
My most REWARDING time was being a part of caring for my Sweet Angel(Mom!) Being a caregiver is a hard job, stressful at times, yet very rewarding. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Years ago my company began giving back to our community to “well deserved” caregivers. In 2016 we hosted our First “Shop til You Drop, Shopping Spree”, benefiting Alzheimer’s Caregivers and now it is the foundation’s annual fundraiser event.
Giving back to well deserved Alzheimer’s Caregivers is what I do, because many times they are forgotten! Alzheimer’s Caregivers ROCK!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media has been very easy in so many ways. It started out when I posted a video back in 2015 with my Dad rocking My Mom in his rocking chair. The video went viral and everyone wanted to stay connected to us. The Washington Post and New York Times contacted me for interviews and a story. I was overjoyed and in a state of shock, just over a small video that I had no clue would go so far. So with that being said, social media continues to stay connected with me and the foundation.
Always share on your social media activities that you are doing or have done and ask them to share with their fb family and friends.

Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses
