We recently connected with Jacob Groth and have shared our conversation below.
Jacob, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Honestly, the story behind my mission is unfolding everyday. My childhood was traumatic and unconditional, that became the fuel to my drive. I didn’t want to be anything like my parents, I realized that at about ten years old. I had one goal, to become a professional baseball player.
My baseball dreams died off with an injury, and everything I once dreamed of died off with my injury. It took me a long time to find that passion again. It’s not just creating content, but the freedom to pursue my passions, through my camera.
I ultimately want to uplift other creatives and help them reach success through resources and systems! I launched an apprenticeship program to help up-and-coming creatives with the resources they need to build a six-figure business. We are currently building our online platform based on what we learned through our experience working with local creatives!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m from a small town in New Mexico and always grew up feeling a little bit outcasted, I always had friends, but for whatever reason, I felt a little bit different than them. The largest industry in the area is oil and gas, so naturally, after dropping out of high school, I pursued a career in the oilfields. After three years of waking up at 4a.m and making next to nothing per hour, I decided to put the 80 hours per week into myself and see what could happen. My start in photography was with weddings and family shoots. It wasn’t until after I moved to a city that I got into the celebrity scene. Now, I oversee a few creative companies, including Desert Rose, a homage to my roots that services the wedding industry. Along with DEATH2DIGITAL, a creative agency offering many services from video production: web design, and NFT development.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
After working for three years in the oil and gas industry, I decided to take a huge risk and quit my stable, corporate job that provided me, the high-school drop out a very comfortable life. I had no money saved, pulled all $5,000 out of my 401K, and had another $1200 coming back to me on a tax return. Instead of looking for another job, I took all the money I had and invested it into camera equipment. I spent all my time on YouTube learning everything I could about cameras and lightroom, then started shooting for free for about a month. The rest is history.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I’ve implemented a subliminal marketing tactic that helped me grow fast within a year, I was kind of shook by how simple it was. Make people look cool. Seriously, that’s it. Take creative BTS videos of your clients, and tag them on social media, they’ll do the rest because who doesn’t want to share cool stuff of themselves to ALL their friends?
