Luisa, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company, FH&J Group, holds a deeply personal meaning for me. It stands for “Family Huertas Johnson,” which encompasses the last names of my beloved parents. This business is more than just a name on paper; it symbolizes a legacy, a testament to the hard work and dedication of my family.
I co-founded this company with my late mother and now continue to run it alongside my sister. FH&J Group is not solely a commercial cleaning enterprise; it’s a promise—a commitment to maintaining the high standards and values that have always been at the core of our family.
The name itself tells a story of our dedication to upholding our family legacy. Every service we provide is a reflection of the values and love that our parents embedded in us. It’s a way for me to honor my mother’s memory and continue the tradition of excellence and commitment that defines our family.

I entered the commercial cleaning industry through a unique pathway that began during my teenage years. Back then, I used to assist my mother in both residential and commercial cleaning. That experience laid the foundation for my journey into the industry and inspired me to identify the prevailing issues within commercial cleaning services.
Through observing various facilities, I noticed a common challenge: many were dissatisfied with their current cleaning companies. Yet, they hesitated to switch providers due to the uncertainty of what to expect from a new company. This realization sparked the inception of my company, driven by a mission to offer a solution to these facilities.
What sets my company apart is our commitment to providing a seamless and effective solution. From the initial contact, we focus on communication and understanding the client’s unique needs. Our process begins with a comprehensive walkthrough, enabling us to tailor a customized cleaning plan specific to each facility. We follow this with a fair and transparent quote, ensuring that our rates reflect the quality and value of the services we provide.
Once an agreement is reached, we kick off with a meticulous deep cleaning of the property. To maintain our high standards, we conduct regular inspections every two weeks. This book presents a methodology for developing businesses and products, emphasizing the importance of agility, iteration, and continuous improvement. It provides valuable insights into how to create a startup that is both capital efficient and better positioned to succeed in a rapidly changing market.
Ries introduces the concept of validated learning, which emphasizes the need to constantly test assumptions, gather feedback, and adapt strategies accordingly. This approach has been invaluable in shaping my entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging a more iterative and customer-centric approach to business development.

During the challenging time when my mother was battling cancer, I found myself in a delicate balance between taking care of her and managing my commercial cleaning business. It was an immensely tough period, yet it became a testament to my resilience and determination.
While devoting myself to caring for my mom, I continued to navigate the demands of my business. Juggling the emotional weight of my mother’s health and the responsibilities of maintaining and growing the business was incredibly demanding. It often felt like an uphill battle, trying to give my best in two crucial aspects of my life.
Amidst this, something remarkable happened. Despite the circumstances, I secured a new contract for my cleaning services. It was a challenging feat, but I was determined to honor my mom’s legacy. This achievement was not just a business milestone; it was a personal victory, a tribute to her strength and the values she instilled in me.
While my heart was heavy with concern for my mother, I channeled that energy into my work, striving to provide the best service possible to my existing clients while expanding and welcoming new ones.
