We caught up with the brilliant and insightful India K. Easley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi India K. , thanks for joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
The first client I ever received was through using Facebook. I would make basic flyers of the services we offer and I’d share them in numerous Facebook groups that I was in. I would give a lengthy description of the services being offer and provide the email address, website, and phone number of the company. This is how I would get the potential clients to the website. If I didnt use the website; I’d make sure they ventured to the Facebook page.
On the Facebook page; I’d made sure all services were listed and that reviews from past clients showed. The first Facebook message I received inquiring about my services was during Thanksgiving actually. That entire weekend I secured 5 major clients and things have just been great since then. I took a leap of faith and posted on social media and the rest is history.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The Write Easley, LLC was created to originally assist youth with tutoring. I started with tutoring grade school students who struggled in all subjects. We would meet at the city library in my hometown after school and would have sessions between 30 mins to one hour depending on the age. Over the years, more and more services and products were added; with me assisting college students with everything known to man. Being that I had already graduated with three degrees at that time – there was no subject I hadn’t taken and passed so it was easy to tutor college students. Eventually, I wanted to do even more and add even more services and that’s how we who we are today. After my father passed away on 11/27/20 – I strived to create this company and grow it into something even bigger. His surname is listed in the business name so this is not only his legacy that I am growing – it is also mine being that I have his surname. Being during a time when Covid-19 created a large pathway for entrepreneurship; I took a huge opening to create a gateway for all entrepreneurs.
I love to be in charge. I don’t like to be micromanaged and anyone who knows me will tell you the same. I’ve always had this vision of being a partner at a law firm or at a very prestigious firm in a major city. Then I started to think; why be a partner when I can be the boss of it all? I knew I had the strength, knowledge, and drive to be a leader and that’s what drove me to entrepreneurship. There are so many entrepreneurs who are misled about how their businesses and organizations should be run and I want to offer them the knowledge that I have obtained. Why not use the knowledge I’ve obtained over the years and assist multiple individuals all over the world? That’s what entrepreneurship is all about; helping people with the services and products you offer.
I do everything in my power to show our clients how much we take pride in ensuring they are well taken care of. I know this is what my dad would do. I know this is the person he trained me to be. I treat them the way any business owner would want to be treated. They are sometimes just starting out so we hold their hands to ensure they are on the right path. My father’s wisdom is now the wisdom I possess within this company. I share the same wisdom with our clients as well. This is how I continue to make it happen each and every day I wake up and assist our clients.
It was important for me to start my business to give back to those who may not be able to seek out expensive services elsewhere. It’s all within our mission: to provide clients with the best services that they have been seeking but have yet to find. We understand how hard it is for clients to hire a professional to create a business plan or a grant writer to complete applications. We know that most clients do not have the funding to pay for such services or cannot pay large sums of money; because they do not have it or are a new business/organization. It’s all about loving what I do and being able to bless clients while do it. Also, this is my legacy I’m building. That pushes me to grind even harder and to never give up.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been being persistent. I love what I do. I love the work we are able to do for those all over the world. Being persistent with our approach keeps the clientele coming. Ensuring that we are standing behind our world 100% shows our clients that we have their best interests in mind. What we do for them is not just because they have paid us to do so; it’s because we truly want to see them become successful. This is how we continue to grow our clientele. We wish success on all who work with us. We take the time to show them the proper methods to become successful and they have proven to work. We do not fabricate information; we have studies that show our work that we have completed. Each client will experience something different while working with us but we still have the best results by taking the time to learn the client.
Increasing the quality of communication has also proven to be effective when working to grow and maintain our clientele. We want to make sure that everyone we work with is fully aware of our processes at all times. It cuts down on a lot of confusion, stress, and time wasted.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media by not being afriad to hear the word no. Some of the groups I use to post flyers in – kicked me out of the groups. Some people reported me to the admins of the groups and my posts were continuously removed. Now, this was all in the beginning of the business. However, I didn’t let that stop me from acquiring my social presence. I just reposted, joined more groups, made more flyers, and kept pushing. Eventually I no longer got removed from the groups or my posts were deleted. I just took a chance. I’m an opportunity seeker. I take opportunities and never wait for them to fall in my lap. This is another way of how I built my audience on social media. I studied the pages and the groups. I took polls. I listened to what business owners needed and what services they were looking for; this is how I created my targeted market. This is also how I created my service list. I wanted to over something to those who are seeking but could not find the proper resources.
I waited on the right timing. My dad always told me that timing is everything and anyway can make it if the timing is right. I just had to be patience and wait my turn. So while waiting; I learned and obtained more knowledge. When that time came from the company to blow up; I was fully aware of what I needed to do in order to remain successful.
I would give this same advice that my dad gave me. I would say to never stop. Never give up. Keep pushing. It will happen in due time but you have to want it to happen. You can’t just sit around and wait. If you wait; you will miss the opportunities meant for you. When you want to build your social media presence; you can’t be afraid to hear “no”. Take the word, learn from it, and keep pushing.
