Mercedes, I am looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea, and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how your business went from just an idea to executing the idea?
The journey of Maybach Minks from idea to execution involved several key steps:
First, I came up with the idea of creating a collection of high-quality mink eyelash extensions that would enhance natural beauty. I conducted market research to assess the demand for such products and identified a gap within the market.
Next, I worked on sourcing quality mink fur for my lashes. I prioritized ethical sourcing and cruelty-free practices. Once I had the materials, it was time to focus on perfecting the attention to detail that would set Maybach Minks apart. I searched for a manufacturer who meticulously handcrafted each lash, paying close attention to shape, curl, and length. The goal was to create a harmonious blend complementing various eye shapes and personal styles. I also included a seamless lash band, allowing easy application and comfortable wear. I wanted the lash bands to be flexible and durable, ensuring that the lashes would last for a long time. I maintained a solid commitment to sustainability and ethical standards throughout this process. I confirmed that my manufacturing process was cruelty-free and used only quality materials.
Finally, once the products are ready, Maybach Minks launched its first collection of mink eyelash extensions to the public (via Shopify). I focused on providing a transformative lash experience that embodied elegance, sophistication, and exceptional quality.

Hi! I am Mercedes Mangham, a 24-year-old eyelash entrepreneur and the proud founder/owner of Maybach Minks. I came up with the concept for Maybach Minks in September 2021, and it has been a long-time aspiration of mine to venture into the beauty industry since my high school days. However, as a young adult, I often found myself engrossed in other pursuits, sometimes overshadowing my passion for beauty. Nevertheless, as I explored my interests and discovered more about myself, the floodgates of creativity opened, and brilliant ideas began pouring in.
When the opportunity finally presented itself to pursue my dreams and create something truly unique, I knew deep down that it was the perfect moment to seize. So, I took a step and officially launched Maybach Minks, a luxury beauty company specializing in quality mink eyelash extensions. The driving force behind my brand was the desire to offer both luxury and affordability, ensuring everyone could indulge in the beauty products they deserve, ultimately enhancing their confidence.
With Maybach Minks, I aimed to break barriers by providing an exceptional experience to all individuals, regardless of their background or financial status. Beauty knows no bounds, and I wanted to create a brand that would empower people to embrace their unique beauty while feeling pampered and glamorous.

I established the social media presence for Maybach Minks by emphasizing high-quality content and fostering interactions with the target audience. I achieved this by developing engaging posts highlighting my lashes and spreading intriguing beauty advice and current trends. Additionally, I partnered with makeup artists and beauty influencers to augment their visibility. Despite irregular posting (because every day is not a good day), the emphasis on content quality and sustaining engagement with the audience facilitated the successful establishment of a sturdy social media presence for Maybach Minks. In addition to delivering high-quality content and actively engaging with my audience, I strategically leveraged social media advertising to extend Maybach Minks’ visibility. I have allocated resources towards targeted advertisements on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, guaranteeing that the appropriate audience is viewing my posts. It’s okay if you don’t receive immediate recognition when sharing about your business. As the saying goes, “Consistency is key.” Keep persevering, and in due time, engagement will follow!

We often hear about learning lessons – but unlearning lessons is just as crucial as learning them. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Something I had to unlearn was the fear of failure. As an entrepreneur, you will inevitably face challenges and setbacks. However, it is crucial to view failure as a learning opportunity and embrace it as part of the journey. Failure is often a stepping stone toward success, allowing you to learn valuable lessons, adjust, and grow stronger. I can recall when posting content felt like the most challenging thing ever (sometimes, it still does, to be honest). I was always so afraid that people wouldn’t engage with my work. There were even times when I wouldn’t post anything for weeks because my fear and self-doubt were just too overwhelming. So don’t let the fear of defeat hold you back! Embrace it as an integral part of your entrepreneurial journey. Every time you have a setback, you have the potential to learn, grow, and become a better entrepreneur. So take it from me, and DON’T be afraid to take chances and embrace the wisdom curve along the way!
