We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Khrystyna Kozyuk a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Khrystyna , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
My progress was slow but literally step by step. I took all different opportunities it was on my way. I tried many different ways to gain clients exposure many times it was waist time and money. my own experience was teaching me what works what not.
Art business is totally different than others it is completely understandable.
Very important is to enjoy the process and build relationships with people.
Now I am more selective than before and learned to say no.
Art opened many doors for me bring me to many new places and I am so happy I didn’t quit on my beginning.
Khrystyna , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I love to be surrounded by beauty architecture sculpture gardens. Love travels and exploring new places, people stories. Observation of nature my source of inspiration.
I creating original oil painting and believe art brings energy to places can open your heart and inspire for years.
Each painting is born without reference point it is just coming out of my heart.
I am creating in the moment it is like my meditation.
All painting are only one of the kind even I can’t recreate my own work they all have different techniques incorporated in one piece.
I do create commission paintings based on clients color choices and size in my style.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I am not big fun of prints. I do believe original artwork brings an energy into the space in totally different ways. So I will invite anyone small big business to buy from local artists original artwork.
Sometime people are spending so much money on something is not original and after couple of years they need to change it because of quality of prints change.
We can make small differences if we communicate more trade more between products and services. Each time you buy some hand make item you make a smile on someone face. It is priceless to see children yang adults being happy to sell own work.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
My lesson was to unlock and unlearned some rules in art. To try not to think about just work experiment and learn from your own experience.
Not compere not judge
Just make your first move and move forward.
