Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Essenssya R. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Essenssya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve been working on so far is “ATL TONAN CHANE”
This musical project allowed me music, is about merging everything I am within my essence, a singer-songwriter, choreographer, producer, graphic designer, painter, free diver, fashionista, visionary as an ARTIST…the Mexican mermaid which the Nahuatl translation is ATL : water/ TONAN: mother/ CHANE: spirit.
Conveying a message that needs to be experienced with al your senses, individual/collective feelings that humanity goes through with alluring aesthetics to create a better world -the new earth.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
essenssya is a bilingual recording artist, performer, singer, songwriter, professional dancer and choreographer. Born in San Diego, CA but raised in Tijuana Baja California Mexico, she is the quintessential “Border Girl”, identifying with and blending both American and Latin culture into her artistry.
An accomplished student of graphic design, she is a visionary who displays artful attention to every aspect of composition. With sensual and cinematic sounds/visuals, she takes her audience on a journey of self discovery, into deep and transcending emotions.
A featured performer on the latest season of TV show“Tengo Talento Mucho Talento”, essenssya is captivating audiences and breaking traditions nationwide in the Latin community through embracing her sensuality and revealing women’s fierce nature, intuitive gifts and inner beauty.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I feel like most of my followers and audience boxed me in the sexy Latina that dances, but what they haven’t connected fully is how I’ve understood and am innately really good at the art of seduction through my visuals and brand. In today’s social media (which is the platform I express myself through) I find it hard to keep pushing my art because I am so many things, I am passionate about evolving as an artist. I love to keep pushing myself outside the box and these platforms feel the need to narrow us (just like the systems we live in) to one thing, repeatedly…. and I refuse, I am a multidimensional being.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Allow room for growth outside one dimension, allow room for mistakes and create more spaces accessible (NOT EXCLUSIVE) for networking with likeminded individuals.
