We recently connected with AJ Schmidt and have shared our conversation below.

Hi AJ, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

One of my good friends in Los Angeles, Arman Tirmizi, always has done extremely well in solar sales. I actually worked under him in 2021 during the pandemic and did extremely well. I was going back and forth, and then finally came back in as a partner in early 2023 with a plan to go big. There has always been a ton of opportunity being in renewable energy, I just know most people don’t understand that it is the future, and there is no ceiling on how much you can make in this industry. Partnering with Arman was a great decision because he had already built the framework. I was able to come in with my expertise in team building and also scaling businesses to take everything to the next level. We have a very unique approach that supersedes most others in the industry.

AJ, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

After being an entertainer through my 20s, I started my own personal training app, and worked for and helped scale many successful businesses. With all of the experience And knowledge, I was able to fully take advantage of the situation here working with California Energy Consultants. What I am most proud of so far with this company is the fact that we are helping home owners save millions owning their own energy, helping people make an honest living and build a very strong skill set with sales and really taking care of clients. And most importantly we are helping the planet with what we are doing. Everything is headed this way, what we are out here pushing. We at California Energy Consultants, we bring the best possible solar equipment to home owners, the best customer service, and also the best team atmosphere within our company. If one person wins, we all win. We have a very great team atmosphere within our company, and will continue to as we keep growing.

Have you ever had to pivot?

One time, and probably the most important time to pivot, I pivoted into this. I was working with many different companies and having some success. It wasn’t until I put most or all of my energy into this, with a great partner in Arman that I was able to have the success and live up to my potential like I am. Working with people you fully trust, with the same type of mindset is everything in business.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

Since I am the one that essentially manages our team, I have a lot of advice for how to continue the success, scale things, and keep high morale. I could go on and on, but to me the most important thing is making sure every single employee has their own personalized plan. Yes, it’s a lot more work taking extended time with specific employees, but it means everything to them that their goals are being met, or they are on their way to their goals.
