We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alex Brzozowski. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alex below.
Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
My business was still in the “infancy” stage so had debt, barely enough cash flow to cover monthly bills and was running from client to client, wearing all the “hats” in the company to the point of exhaustion. At the same time, I decided to leave my 11 year relationship with someone who also had a partial ownership interest in my business which finally came to an end too. Making a big decision and investment in the business or myself was far from my mind and not something I thought would be a good idea. I was scared, worried about not bringing in enough money to cover expenses, and my energy was completely depleted. I had lost sight of where the business and I were heading.
While at a networking meeting, a business coach presented about sales and I decided to sign up for her 2-day workshop. During the workshop, the coach pitched her program where you would get 1-1 help from her and another coach for a few months to double your sales. This sounded amazing! I needed this help and support desperately to say the least. However, the financial investment for the coaching program was 5 figures.
I had no idea where this money would come from as it was definitely not in my back account and my credit cards were already maxed. I refused to go further into debt, apply for credit cards or a loan. I was still used to running the business with my ex that I also had no one else to run the idea by, making this my first big decision I would make on my own… and risk losing money I didn’t even have yet or go into default!
After coming up with a payment plan with the coach, thinking overnight and the tears finally dried up, I decided to take the leap and sign up for the 5 figure coaching program. Months later, this decision changed the trajectory of my business.
I followed the coaching program and never had a back up plan. I was in it 100%. It had to work. I had to pay not only the expenses every month but also monthly payment for the coaching program. There was no other option. Sure enough, the clients and money would show up month over month to cover all the expenses. Not only that, with the coaches help, we found a way to change the business model to make recurring revenue which I never saw in an organizing service business before. We started systematizing the business so it could continue to grow and I felt reinvigorated. I gained back my faith in myself, what I was doing and had put the business and my goals front and center again.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I grew up in the Detroit area and then attended Butler University in Indianapolis. At that time, I thought I wanted to work in the legal world so I studied Sociology & Criminology and interned with the Prosecutor’s Office during college. After I graduated, I moved to San Diego right away to start my career at a law firm.
While working as a paralegal at two different paperless law firms,I saw many clients coming to meetings not only unprepared…but missing the highly personal, sensitive, and confidential paperwork they needed to proceed. In many cases, clients didn’t even know where their documents were located or where to begin to find them. A lot of my work was piecing things together, organizing information and documents. After years of watching clients struggle with the same organizational issues, many pivots, and a complete business model overhaul…Be Organizing was born in 2012!
Today, our team of Professional Digital Organizers and Productivity Specialists work with individuals and businesses remotely all over the US and world to create the processes, systems, and structures they need to reduce stress, save time, and have the peace of mind knowing exactly where their files, data, records, photos, emails, tasks, projects, notes, schedules, calendars, passwords, and apps are (and how to quickly access them!).
It’s easy to get caught up and discouraged by the details and the nuances to be digitally organized. Whether it be file naming, the newest app, or the next best program to help organize your information. Don’t get us wrong, the details matter when creating a system but overcomplicating it makes it hard to follow … and what’s the point of a system or process you can’t follow? This is why we believe in creating SIMPLE systems and processes that SAVE TIME and REDUCE STRESS so people can spend more time ENJOYING YOUR LIFE!
To do this, we follow the S.I.M.P.L.I.F.Y. Method © — the eight-step process created by us, Be Organizing, to organize any area of digital life, using storage solutions and automated tools to save important information, files and keep everything in the right place. Unlike other methods that exist to organize physical spaces, our method is specific to digital organizing. It is cognizant of the various digital options available including automations, integrations, advancements and the way information or files are organized and stored within an app or program.
It is so rewarding to see all the ways we have made a strong impact in our clients lives with the systems that we put in place, saving them time and bringing clarity to them. Sometimes even the littlest thing to us can make the biggest impact.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
It is more beliefs that I had to unlearn over and over again. I struggle with a lot around the idea of money. I was taught early on that you have to work really hard to make more money. I would watch everyone, it seemed, around me growing up working long hours, stressed and exhausted from work. Although all this work was being put in, it seemed that you had to work even harder since the money was still not showing up. I think society as a whole also contributed to this belief.
The way I unlearned this is by challenging the belief and of course, shifting the belief. Looking at real life examples, if working hard makes you more money…then why do so many trade laborers not all make an abundance of money? If you look at those who do have money and what they actually do you see they don’t necessarily work more. A lot of times they are working less, working smarter and making more money.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
