We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dorothy Cross. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dorothy below.
Dorothy , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
The impact that my parents had on me was nothing but incredible. Growing up in a small town. My dad worked really hard in the army air force and my stepmom was a stay home wife. What they taught me as a child was to find my passion in whatever and worked really hard to maintain it. I do remember vaguely in middle school all the way in high school I was in computer science and on the math team after school. I was not popular at all but I was curious in how things work and how to solve problems. Hence math and was my favorite subject. I became fascinated with dentistry when I was getting my teeth fixed the first time. My family was supportive of me doing the dental surgical assisting in the beginning of my career. My stepmom wanted me to pursue hygiene school but I wanted to just focus on family life and my work. As I got older mid twenties and my child was getting older I wanted something different due to my partner was finishing nursing school and I needed a better career. I went back to college in 2021 to pursue a business management degree. My parents was super happy for me and supported me every step of the way. When I was telling my sister and everyone that I was going start my own business. My family did support me. My sister help me with the name and business concept as well. She is really the glue behind it. My parent’s support me as well. I would say last year was the toughest for me not only was it brand new. We had an unexpected death of my stepmom. Before she passed she definitely gave me encouragement on our vacation in June 2022. She laughed and said I’m proud of you. She told me to never give up on anything and life is too precious to stress. Make the best of it and take risk and learn from everything. Who knew it will be my last time seeing that beautiful woman last year. This year in my business I met amazing people. My dad and sister still here helping me and I have a beautiful friend that just help me launched our new office together this month in October.

Dorothy , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into dentistry in 2014-2021 to fix my own insecurities with my teeth. Helping make a difference in people lives and helping educate people on the importance of oral health and hygiene. I transition to aesthetics injections in January 2023 in Texas as long as you have a Medical Director or a Nurse Practitioner you can do cosmetic injections at your office. The thing about this company is. I have been working in the medical health field for twelve years. So Dentistry is still considered medical industry. We still had to take anatomy and physiology and microbiology classes before working. The services that we offered at Precise Glo are cosmetic injections, weight- loss treatments and products, teeth whitening and lashes and brows. This brand is based on helping our clients get educated about treatments and finding long term solutions. Plus we hep our clients understand we just help them glow with a natural approach to beauty treatments. We do non invasive treatments in our clinics.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met Ashley. M through a mutual DFW affiliate member of a network group I am in. The person spoke highly of Ashley and her work and how she is looking to expand in her esthetic’s career and how we both can grow together. We had a meeting at Starbucks in September and hit it off well. Plus Ashley is a workaholic. The thing about her she is so in tuned with her craft she forgets to use social media. So I constantly remind her to take before and after photos. Other than that we communicate really well and we both have the same vision in our mind. I would say she is my partner instead of employee.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
This social media can be good or bad for anyone. I would say in May this year a blessing and a curse come at the same time. My instagram page had so many followers like but not organically done. That being said I was at the gym with a client. I got alert at the gym and was not paying attention. I accept the thing and next thing I was hacked. It was terrifying because this random person started posting inappropriate stuff of himself. It look bad all the way down from ladies to men. He was in people inboxes. I was humiliated for few days. I lost deals and lost clients. Plus people were judging me. I had to explain to few people that I do not know that person. Then starting over I became resilient and hired a company to monitor my social media accounts. Sometimes you just have to start over and learn from things and pay extra to be safe on social media.,
