Andreas, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I am the entire operation system of my business including my social media. My business is very personal to me so I’ve decided to run my social media on my own. It’s been a long and difficult road but I’ve learned so much along the way. For me social media has really been a tool to create my brand and get it out to the world. It has allowed me to test different ideas and grow in so many ways. Running it on my own has forced me to become a marketer, salesman, photographer, videographer, editor, writer, and so much more. I hope to build up my team down the road so I can focus more on what I’m truly best at and love doing which is art. However learning all these skills have been critical and will allow me to hire the right people for the job as I now know what it truly takes to fill those positions. I have pushed myself to spread my brand across as many platforms as I can with Instagram and YouTube being my favorite platforms, I’m also creating my brand on tik tok, X, and LinkedIn. I hope to continue to grow my brand and create entertaining and educational content for artists and anyone who’s creative!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the visual arts industry back in 2015. I studied graphic design and brought in clients who were starting small businesses and would help them create a brand for themselves by designing there logo, website, and everything else in between. I have since continued to grow my clients and expand my own brand. I now produce a variety of content for creative individuals from entertainment through YouTube videos documenting my process to educational content through a podcast where I interview other creative entrepreneurs. As well as continuing to help build brands digitally I have started creating large scale murals for brick and mortar business to help them stand out and provide some beauty for their community.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The thing I think people don’t realize about getting clients and networking is how important genuine connections are. With everyone trying to create ads to promote there business it more then often gets lost upon the consumers. I think most consumers are tired of seeing and hearing ads and don’t pay much of any attention to them. Some of my best and longest lasting clients have formed from sincere and genuine connections that had nothing to do with ads or promos. Back in 2021 I saw an Instagram post on earth day where this girl Megan was asking people to go outside and pick up trash and for every piece of trash they picked up she would do a push-up. I saw this and decided I wanted to help our earth out a bit so I got some trash bags and went around Denver CO and starting picking up trash. Pretty soon I had two giant bags completely full so I took a picture and sent it to Megan. We stayed in contact and I later found out she is the owner and founder of Jacked Jams which at the time she was just starting up. I was able to help her build and design her entire brand and I can’t even start to list all the projects I have done for her. She is my biggest client to this day and it all happened from picking up some trash.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I sell through both my site and Amazon. I have found pros and cons to all the different platforms but in the end it really depends on the products your selling. Through my own website I sell original stickers I design, these are my best selling items and they are fairly easy to produce so I like to sell and ship them out personally to my audience. Through Amazon and Kindle Direct Publishing I have started to design, produce and publish my own coloring books. I have found a product like this is much easier to get out into the work through Amazon. They handle all the shipping and manufacturing so after I’ve published a book I don’t have to worry about any of that. They do however take a percentage of the cut but with Amazon being such a large market itself it’s already got built in strategies to help ouch your work out to the world which tends to be tricky when selling through my own website.
