We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Carmen Dindo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Carmen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Carmen Dindo, and I am the owner of Skincare By Carmen Dindo which is located in Sarasota, Fl. I have my own space and it is a cute, cozy studio centrally located right off of Bee Ridge Rd (exit 207).
Skincare by Carmen Dindo actually started because, as I was personally working through finding help for myself regarding appropriate treatments, accurate information and skincare advice through others, I found it difficult to find answers in order to get the help/information that I felt I needed. Especially with going through a lot of internal changes in my body due to menopause and my skin being dull, saggy, sensitive and increased hyper-pigmentation. That is when I decided that I needed to go to school in order to become knowledgeable to help myself and the venture out to helping others dealing with similar challenges.
I am very passionate for what I do and I believe that it is very important not only treating the skin by itself, but, to treat the skin/body as a whole in a holistic approach. I enjoy analyzing the skin, asking questions that are going to lead me to the root issues of my clients skincare needs. In addition, I am able to give advice to clients from a nutritional perspective in order to support the healing process as we work together on their goals and desired results.
I specialize solely in skin care and put all my efforts towards having the knowledge for everyones needs. We have a wide variety of services starting with a basic facial (includes a double cleanse, exfoliation, microdermabrasion, serum, mask, massage, moisturizer and S.P.F.) to stepping out from a crowded industry into offering Jet plasma treatments.
Jet Plasma is the most advanced state-of-the-art technology that brightens, tightens, & remodels the cellular structure of the skin from the inside out while building collagen. It is highly effective with long-lasting results.
This treatment is non-surgical, non-invasive, and has zero downtime. It is a painless natural alternative to injections and fillers. I also conduct Biorepeels in conjunction with this service and many others.
Skin care itself is very vast and intricate as the skin also lets us know when something inside of our body is going on such as acne on the chin, neck and cheeks on a 20 y.o. indicating some hormonal issues, stress, reactions to environment, while some redness (rosacea) on the skin will indicate abnormal or unusual immune or inflammatory response to specific triggers which may include extreme temperatures wind, spicy food, alcohol or stress. It’s not just “skin care”, it is a wellbeing as a whole, which is exactly what I will be focusing on while guiding every client and their individual needs through the entire process.
With my holistic approach, I work mainly with organic products within the Eminence Skin Care line.
Every treatment that I provide is tailored and customized accordingly as every person is unique. My clients facial will never be the same as I will change methods and/or products each time to accommodate their skin needs.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I firmly believe that my passion for the industry and my genuine care for my clients has truly supported my success in this industry. I enjoy working closely with my clients towards their goals in approving their skin conditions while having the opportunity to build genuine relationships. As I see progress, it is very fulfilling. While that is fulfilling, I also am so grateful to see clients boost their self confidence while the process takes place towards their ultimate goals. I also feel that during my services I have the ability to try and support them in any way possible. I truly appreciate my clients as they have been a major part of my success.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back, the only thing I would do is to get into this profession sooner in life. It has taken me a long time to find this passion I have now and something I really love doing every single day. As I entered into this profession a few years back, in my late 40’s, I am so thankful that I have finally found something that I want to stay with. It does not feel like a job and again, it is so fulfilling in every way. I have went through may professions in my life such as banking, cosmetology, child care & technology, however, I have never been so content with what I am doing. Of course, owning my business has had some substantial challenges and learning curves, but it has all been worth it and I am fully committed to striving for continued success.
