We recently connected with TTK Harris and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, TTK thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I’m happy as a creative because I get paid to be myself. Even if I wasn’t working professionally as a designer, I’d be doing my own thing independently because it’s what I love. In regards to having a regular job, I don’t have to wonder. I’ve had jobs in my field & outside of my field and I’ve learned from all of them. I’m at a stage where I’m doing what I love, so it doesn’t feel like I’m working. Wether it’s for myself or a client.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is TTK Harris and to sum it up, I’m an artist. One day I’m a creative director, other days I’m a painter, but overall, I work through an artistic lense. I’ve always been into art & design before I even knew what exactly design was. My road to being a creative has been one that I’m still traveling down. My work combines pop and subculture to produce colorful paintings, illustrations, motion graphics, album package designs, and more, often with social undertones. He has created works for a range of clients including Adidas, Complex, Mass Appeal, Michelin, and Urban Outfitters. My most recent public work is “Just Like Me,” a mini-documentary he directed to highlight the contributions of Black creatives who have made waves in the advertising and design industry and to inspire the next generation of Black creatives.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Inspiring others & respect from my peers that create in my field

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I did 10 yrs in the Navy as a submariner, went back to school afterwards, earned a degree in communication design, and started a new career as designer.
