We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JAYBANGZZ HOUSTON, TX. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JAYBANGZZ below.
JAYBANGZZ, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My most meaningful project would definitely have to be working with Houston’s own Kirko Bangz. My most recent project with Kirko is called “MIO” that I just dropped May 6th couple weeks ago. Mio is a great song in my opinion I feel like its a catchy song at the same time it’s a Spanish and English song which I find it pretty dope that we could make it sound universal. This means everything to me because growing up Kirko Bangz was one of my favorite artists and I looked up to some of his lyrics which got me through some tough times as a teenager. Growing up my brother Jimmy and I would ride around the city of Houston listening to Kirko and man we used to go to his concerts at Warehouse Live and House of Blues. I think about it now and it amazes me how I got to this point where we have record together and potentially a music video soon. I’ve always dreamed about performing for a crowd while chanting my name as I see flashing lights you know I think every kid is allowed to dream big so that was mine to be like Kirko. Years later with hard work and being determined to achieve what I’ve accomplished so far has taken so much effort and also having an open mind about new ideas and being a student at times. Working with Kirko so far has been the most meaningful to me in my career.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
For some people who don’t know me I create music that’s something I love doing so much. I go by Jaybangzz that’s my musical artist name. The reason why I started doing music was because I’ve always loved music and different genres like Tejano which I get from my dad and R&B/Hiphop music as well. I would write so much and never actually had the courage to get in a studio and record. I was always shy and nervous and especially afraid of what people might say or think about me. One day I just wrote a song when I was all in my feelings lol but yea I wrote a whole record alone called “Holdin’ On” and as soon as I did that I knew I wanted to sing it myself. I got with a great friend Rene in San Marcos and he just pushed me into doing it so I was kinda forced into it lol na I’m joking but I’m glad I was able to do it and overcame my fear. In my opinion what sets me apart from others is I’m always being myself I don’t feel the need to follow what others are doing or worried about the next person you know. I don’t feel the need to be a follower or do what others what me to do for clout. I’m going to always be myself and keep it real with myself as well. my hunger for more is crazy because I normally don’t tell anyone my next move or thoughts besides maybe 1 or 2 people but I always work hard for it and accomplish it. At this point in my career I’m very happy and excited for whatever comes my way. My Spotify has grown so much up to 5k listeners and 75 different countries and counting so I’m happy for that. I want all my fans to know that I appreciate everyone from the bottom of my heart truly. it means the world to me that I’m able to make some music that people enjoy listening. I’ve accomplished some goals by doing that, but there’s so much room for improvement so I will continue to go strong.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
In my career so far I’ve had to put up my own money working a full time job just taking a chance on myself. I’ve put my own money up front with no help of others. Purchasing my own studio time, beats, features, etc. Most people think it’s easy to just record a song and drop it but behind that is so much to do before an actual studio recording. I’ve funded my own music videos as well so people can have a visual of what of the song says. Being an independent artist is a lot of responsibility and always have to be ready for what’s to come next. Could be a feature or a show out of town so there’s always have to be some kind of preparation as well.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect would be helping others out through my music. If there’s someone out there like me that loves music and has been at it’s lowest point but music helps you feel better then I feel like that’s the best feeling ever. Some fans we don’t get to meet or some artist we don’t meet but their lyrics are so powerful and meaningful that it touches you. I been there before where I felt like not wanting to be here anymore, that life would be easier without me but music always calmed me down and got me through rough patches in my life. That would be the greatest most rewarding aspect to me is to help anyone through my music during tough times or even just brightened your day more with catchy lyrics.
