Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lynel Seawood. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Lynel , thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
At this point I have not been able to make a full time living with my creative work

Lynel , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My photography story began as a freshman in high schoo 1996l. I needed a class to fill my freshman schedule and photography was the only thing that I found instresting at the time. I had a good teacher but our class was very distracting and I wish I would have paid more attention. I didn’t pick photography up again until I was a senior. My photography teacher this year was my elementary art. teacher which I found instresting. Here is where I learned to develop film in the dark room, learn how to expose and other settings. I found it very fun actually as we got to do a lot more and went on photography walks.
I didn’t pick a “camera up” to start trying to take real pictures again until 2016 or 17 when my daughter was in the 3rd grade. I just simply wanted some better photos of my daughter playing basketball inside of a gym than what my cell phone was giving me. So I just went out to bestbuy on a Black Friday and purchased my first Nikon DSLR.
During one of my daughters ball game, a parent asked If I could take some pictures of his daughter also and that he would pay me. I said no at the time because I didn’t really know what I was going, and just gave him the photos. It wasn’t until then, that I figured I could try to make some money on the side with this.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had knew about the tons of videos on YouTube early on. It’s tons on teachers on YouTube that teaches photography or majority of things you may be into. I didn’t discover it or really use YouTube until I was really wanting or trying to under stand how to make my photo look a certain way.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I have somewhat always been completive especially with my self. If I’m interested in something, I try to go all out and learn it and do the best I can do in it.
