Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tony Hale III. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tony , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of my most meaningful projects I’ve worked on was “When it Started”, a project that was devoted to spreading awareness on sexual trafficking in not only the United States, but in the United Kingdom as well. It was most likely one of the most difficult projects I’ve ever done as an actor because I had to act like an absolute monster. Despite that, I was committed to spreading awareness to that problem and was more than honored to be apart of that project. It will be showing in USA and United Kingdom.
Tony , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Tony Hale III, and I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. I am currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. A little bit about my academic background: I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management in 2019 from the University of Tennessee and am about to graduate from Georgetown University with a Master’s degree in Technology Management in December. As for my acting background, I began acting in high school with the assistance of my teacher and mentor, Dr. Niambi Webster. While participating in stage plays and acting competitions, I developed a love and passion for the performing arts. As of today, I have completed over 22 film projects and are moving forward each day. My goal is to become an A-list actor and continue to create and tell meaningful stories for viewers, as they are the reason I do it. There are a few projects that will be shown on major platforms, so please stay tuned.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part about being an artist, to me, is the people who take time out of their day to watch the finished product. I’ve received so much positive feedback on my projects, and that’s what keeps me going; that’s the most rewarding part of it all. Without the people, I have no reason to create. I love all my viewers, and they love me. It can’t get any more rewarding than that.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I think most non-creatives will struggle to understand how hard I work and how much adversity I face as a Black actor. I don’t get every gig I audition for, and most things don’t always go the way I expect them to… that’s just life in general, I suppose. I understand that everything isn’t always rosy, and that’s okay. I keep my head held high and move forward, as always.
