We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tevin McCleary. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tevin below.

Hi Tevin, thanks for joining us today. When you were first starting out, did you join a firm or start your own?

When I first got into real estate, after I passed my exams, I joined with Lpt Realty. Lpt Realty was my best move being a new agent. With the perfect training and support offered by Lpt Realty, my first year being in real estate was definitely worth it. So my backstory is when I passed my exams I was struggling to make ends meet. Had just lost my day job and also lost my best friend that I grew up with. On top of losing my best friend I also ended up getting a divorce while trying to build my business. Let me tell you it is not easy when your personal life is hectic. Lpt Realty CEO Robert Palmer really helped me maintain my business and really is a caring guy.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Well real estate is not a easy business. I always heard if you get business in real estate you can get business anywhere. I lost my job while going to school for real estate. I ended up going through some tough times. If you don’t know real estate agents get paid by commission which means we don’t get paid till we go to closing. Real estate is a great career for me because I understand the “WHY” I am in real estate. My first year has been slow but knowledgably. I learned so much in a short timeframe and actually now knowing how to run a successful business. I learned that you must be organized, you must have efficiency, your business must be scalable, and you must have the right processes in place to have a successful business. I have been building my brand and actually getting known as the expert real estate agent in my area. I started off utilizing social media platforms to get my name out there. How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Life gets tough! This year alone has been tough for me. I lost my best friend, and my dog. Also went through a terrible divorce. I really had to pivot even though I had so many distractions in my personal life going on. Going through these things and trying to build a business got me in a dark place in my life but I KEPT GOING! I realized that life has its ups and downs, I must cherish those ups! If I would of have quit I would have never even got a chance to be successful. My advice to anybody is to Keep Going! It is hard out here but we must keep on keeping on.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients for me has been helping first time home buyers. I find those buyers by utilizing social media. When you are looking to buy a home where is the first place you go to look for a home? Exactly, you go online so that is where you can find me at! I really love my job helping everyday people get into the homes of their dreams. I explain to first time home buyers that there are several benefits to owning a home in Texas. Utilizing social media is the way to go in my opinion. You can actually nurture leads and build strong relationships with your clients all by using social media. You really can build your business by using video content. People now days are visual people. They want to see you actually working. Which is what I show them on my social media pages.
