Corine , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Corine Logic’s. LLC mission is to provide an array of clinical services for individuals, groups, Nonprofits Organizations and Companies to support their Mental Health needs with the goal of assisting as many lives as possible. We believe in our “One life supporting another life” vision to assist as many clients as possible to address the current violence and self-harm increase since the pandemic. We believe that life can be an amazing experience that has trials and tribulations that can be addressed through counseling and our 5 core values. Our Core Values consist of our Company Evidence Based Approach Emotional Intelligence Competencies.
Self-Awareness: Corine past generational, environmental and grief trauma has prompted her business and mission statement. Corine generational trauma included verbal and physical abuse from family members. This trauma resulted in depression and low self-esteem. The fact that she lived in poverty increased her depression which included PTSD witnessing drug addicts, violence and shootings within her community daily. With the generational and environmental trauma Corine develops violent behavior which resulted in her even being locked up for battery. Corine continued with the narrative once she became of age that she felt that if someone violated her, she was supposed to discipline them; which is what she witnesses as a child. Her depression also increased when she lost her brother Gary L Barnes J.R to gun violence. This not only increase her anger but also affected her belief in God. This went on for years until she changed her environment and moved to another state without any family members and not knowing anyone. At this time, she finished her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and went on to her master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling. Corine studies allowed her to psychoanalyze herself which resulted into healthy coping skills and
Self-Regulations: Corine has unconsciously been using the evidence base emotional intelligence approach without knowing. She has been able to identify her triggers and avoid them while using coping skills to remain calm when she becomes triggered. She also lives as a mentor who works with youth and adults who are from similar backgrounds.
Empathy: Corine had to develop empathy for herself to learn how to forgive others. Corine has witnessed that most people are not willing to forgive others because they don’t care about them. Corine services and programs allow individuals to develop the skills to forgive their past trauma, so they are not affected by others when they are approached with negativity.
Social Skills: Corine has been able to increase her social skills by providing mentorship for CPS children, counseling for individuals inside mental health hospital, who are currently incarcerated and nonprofit organization who serve at risk communities. Her mentorship and services consist of creating curriculums, programs, services and individuals and group counseling.
Motivation: Corine’s motivation is her two daughters (Marrine & Lyric), God, her business, home and other assets. Ms. Barnes rapport with the community and impact that she has given her the motivation to stay calm when triggered and stay focused when she goes through her trauma.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Corine Barnes was born in South Central Los Angeles, CA, and raised in Compton, Ca. Her living conditions consist of poverty, grief, depression, PTSD, and anxiety. She is the 3rd oldest out of nine siblings including her oldest brother Gary Barnes who was a victim of gun violence in 2004. Her brother’s loss caused complicated grief which turned into anger for many years. Ms. Barnes has always had a loving and supporting heart however her complicated grief and generational trauma continuously caused emotional unbalance which resulted into going to jail for fighting on multiple occasions.
In 2012 Corine decided to make a change when she noticed that she could not be the mother that she needed to be for her oldest daughter. She took time to focus on herself which resulted in her completing her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and worked as a School College Counselor. She noticed that she had skills building rapport with people and providing guidance to stay in school as a school counselor which prompted her focus to investigate the field of Mental Health Counseling.
Corine’s graduate program not only provided her with skills, knowledge, and techniques for clients; but also gave her an opportunity to psychoanalyze herself. She was able to realize what trauma consists of, recognize the impact that generational trauma had on her life, developed skills to properly respond to her trauma and learned more about supportive resources to decrease re-traumatization.
Corine’s motto “One life Supporting another life” is important because of the many mentors and support systems that she utilized throughout her life so far which made a difference. Without them she feels that she would have become a product of her environment which is why she is passionate in working with as many individuals with similar backgrounds to ensure that this will not be their narrative.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I develop a rapport with them and inform them that my gain is not financial but more on making an impact in their lives and the community that they are serving. I am very honest once I complete my SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Threat) analysis of what their company can and cannot do. My confidence that I know what I am doing because of previous successful curriculums and programs gives me the confidence that this is my spiritual gift that I will continue to do.
I have made one mistake of not vetting one of my previous nonprofit clients and didn’t realize that their motives were not to assist their community but was for their community. Moving forward, I am no longer taking word of mouth and I will conduct my own research on my clients moving forward.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The simple answer in my field is that my work efforts spoke for themself. Many clients witness the transformation of their other community members when I was involved, and they also witness when I am not. I really do not do much marketing. All my clients have come by word of mouth.
