Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to SIX. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
SIX, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today.
If I were to start over today and do things differently,I would slow down and focus on building a strong foundation to build on. When I reflect on my thought process originally,I was very naive to the amount of effort it would take to truly attain my goals. I would’ve turned down a lot more opportunities that I committed to for pure financial reasons. I would be more intentional about why I’m taking on projects and thinking about what value I can bring to them.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is SIX, I’m a photographer, director, and also the art director at New Art Creative Agency. My journey into the industry started in 2018, where I was blessed with an internship at Cam Kirk Studios in Atlanta,GA. This gave me hands on experience with developing my photography and creative ability while also being mentored by Scrill Davis and Cam Kirk. These two mentors gave me great direction as I learned more about the direction that I truly wanted to go with my art. My mission is to create an intersection between editorial storytelling and commercial marketability for the art I produce for clients, this allows creativity to thrive while being intentional about how this is selling the story to brands audience.
A few of my biggest accomplishments include leading a team of 12 creatives and creating an environment that allows each of us to thrive within our respective craft. Recently, we were featured in the High Museum Of Art in Atlanta, GA and we’ve also moved the needle on not waiting for opportunities but creating them. We take pride in creating with love and passion, not just for ourselves but also for our clients and the experience is a reflection of that.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Personally, I believe the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the ability to execute a vision. There are so many obstacles in between the ideation and execution phase, especially when you consider how collaboration can expand what’s required in order to produce. For me, my ideas grow with intention, therefore I want to cover all of the elements to tell the best story, like hair, makeup, styling, set design, lighting, and etc. The byproduct of executing with intention is the notoriety, the clients, and all of the things we chase as creatives at the end of the rainbow.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
This is a story I love to share because it’s so funny in hindsight. My business partner, Anton Traverso, and I, actually went to high school together, though he was a few years younger than me. We actually never had any real relationship then, it wasn’t until he had graduated and reached out to me to work on a collaborative project that we begin to connect. Initially, I was hesitant and with good reason, I think we had differing standards when it came to the quality of our work. Nonetheless, something told me to put my ego to the side because I didn’t know for sure what would come up out of this collaboration. In my opinion, I was right about our first two projects as they didn’t fulfill me creatively and I was again, hesitant to continue this partnership. He reached out again, this time with a project that I felt more connected to and I could see a clear common interest. We produced a shoot for a clothing brand, MFBLU and it opened my eyes to how I could grow. I shared with him my goal of creating a team to elevate the quality of my work and he told me about an opportunity at a modeling agency, he recently started at. At the time, it sounded like the perfect place with resources that I thought I needed to build the team. Transparently, this was nothing more than a learning experience for the both of us, as it was not what neither of us pictured. It did, however allow us to grow together and learn many lessons about the work environment that we wanted to create and allow others to create in. We left after almost a year and decided to create our own agency and it has been nothing short of a blessing as we’ve created a family to thrive with.
