We were lucky to catch up with Joanna Brashear recently and have shared our conversation below.

A couple years ago, my world was shaken when my beloved great grandma passed away. She was not just a pillar of strength and wisdom in my life, but also my guiding light. As her health declined, I knew I had to be by her side, to hold her hand and whisper my final goodbyes. But my day job, sadly, failed to understand the urgency of this moment. They couldn’t comprehend the depth of my love and the need to be there for her in her final moments.

Shortly after this heart-wrenching loss, life threw another curveball at us. My husband’s company unexpectedly shut down, leaving us in a state of uncertainty. The realization hit me hard: I needed to take control of our financial destiny, to ensure that we could weather any storm that came our way. It was time to embrace the unknown and carve our own path.

With the encouragement and support of my friends and family, I made the decision to quit my day job and open my bakery. They saw something in me that I couldn’t fully see in myself – a talent, a passion, and the potential for success. Their belief in me gave me the push I needed to take this risk and leap of faith.

Within a mere 2-3 weeks of opening the word about my bakery spread and something truly magical happened. The support and love I received from this incredible community were beyond anything I could have ever imagined. all the kind words, and the unwavering support have touched my soul in ways I cannot express.

Every day, I am reminded of the journey that led me here. The scent of freshly baked cakes and the warmth of the oven bring me comfort, reminding me of the love and memories I shared with my great grandma. It’s as if she’s guiding my hands, whispering her secrets and blessings into every creation.

This sentimental journey has taught me that sometimes, the greatest rewards come from taking risks and following our hearts. It has shown me the power of community, the strength of love, and the beauty of resilience.
