We recently connected with Tesha Smith and have shared our conversation below.
Tesha , appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
To prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career, the education system should focus on holistic skill development, which includes incorporating entrepreneurship education, prioritizing emotional and mental well-being, and offering comprehensive career guidance and exploration programs. By nurturing a wide range of skills beyond academics, teaching entrepreneurship to cultivate innovation and business acumen, promoting emotional and mental well-being, and providing guidance for career exploration, students will be better equipped to navigate the complexities of the modern world and pursue fulfilling and successful lives.

Tesha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the wellness industry after using yoga to treat my back injuries and scoliosis. It was a holistic approach to healing myself without depending on Western medicine. A few years later I found myself experiencing high functioning anxiety and used breath work and sound bath therapy as a way to relieve my stress and symptoms.
I realized that I had a passion and a gift for helping and healing others. I started teaching yoga, breath work and Sound bath classes as I way to teach others how to transform their pain into purpose.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
During my journey towards entrepreneurship, I had to overcome the belief that my family or immediate circle’s lack of entrepreneurial success would limit my own potential. I realized that just because others around me hadn’t pursued or achieved entrepreneurial endeavors, it didn’t mean that I couldn’t. Here’s how I learned this valuable lesson and embraced my own path:
Firstly, I recognized that our individual journeys are unique. While the experiences and outcomes of those around us can certainly provide valuable insights and lessons, they do not define our own capabilities or limit our potential for success. I understood that my family’s experiences were not indicative of what I could achieve as an entrepreneur.
Secondly, I sought inspiration from outside sources. I delved into stories of successful entrepreneurs who had overcome similar circumstances or had forged their own paths without familial support. Their stories served as a reminder that entrepreneurship is not bound by one’s immediate environment but rather by one’s determination, hard work, and willingness to take risks.
Moreover, I focused on building my own skill set and knowledge base. I sought out educational resources, attended workshops and seminars, and continuously honed my entrepreneurial skills. By investing in my personal growth and development, I gained confidence in my abilities and empowered myself to pursue my entrepreneurial aspirations despite the lack of immediate family role models.
Ultimately, I learned that entrepreneurship is a personal journey that can be pursued by anyone with the right mindset, determination, and willingness to learn. I realized that my family’s lack of entrepreneurial success did not define my own potential and that I had the ability to carve my own path towards success. This realization has been instrumental in shaping my entrepreneurial journey and has taught me the importance of embracing one’s individual path, regardless of the experiences of others in our immediate circles.

How did you build your audience on social media?
