Emily, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I grew up in west Texas, San Angelo to be exact. I’ve been in the DFW area for about 17 years now. About 5 years ago I knew I wanted to start my own business, I just wasn’t sure exactly in what aspect. I was thinking of all the cute little shops back home. They always had the cutest clothes and just really unique items you can’t just find anywhere. So I came up with a plan to open a boutique. My mom and I were brain storming about the name. We went through several. We kept going back to how things would sparkle and dazzle in these stores. So Dazzling Boutique was born! I added the Texas on about a year into being open. It just flowed better. So now we have Texas Dazzling Boutique.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was between jobs in early 2017 when I thought of starting some sort of online business. I wanted to bring a little bit of west Texas to the big city. So Texas Dazzling Boutique was born! I had no idea if it would work and it was very scary. I remember driving for Lyft to help pay the bills while my boutique was getting started. I used to deliver packages to customers, meet them for drop offs, basically anything I needed to do to get their business. Well, it paid off!
Texas Dazzling Boutique is still going strong today in 2022. We survived and thrived during COVID which was very surprising. Our sales have been over six figures for the last two years with over 100 packages going out each week. We have over 9,000 members in our VIP group on Facebook, a website, and just launched our very own app! We are also on Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok. I am very thankful to all my loyal customers and fellow boutique friends that have helped me grow along the way. I am finally able to be home with my daughters and attend all their school events! It is very exciting and I hope to pass the business down to my girls one day.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I first started in 2017 I had no clue what I was doing as far as social media. I started a business page for my boutique and then thought…now what? Of course I asked friends and family to share my new business adventure on their Facebook pages, but I quickly found out I couldn’t rely on this alone. I then created a private VIP group. This created a more personal shopping experience and allowed me to really get to know my customers. To grow the group I did giveaways, prizes, and other incentives to get customers to add more people to our group. It’s taken me about 5 years to reach 9,000 members on Facebook and about 500 on Instagram. Advice I would offer those just starting out is to be consistent. Your followers can easily forget you if you aren’t showing up in their newsfeeds. You have to show up everyday and create a sense of community not just shopping. I like to say we are family at Texas Dazzling Boutique!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for getting new customers has definitely been social media, mostly Facebook. Recently I have branched out to Instagram and TikTok. TikTok has brought me several new customers which is exciting! The majority of my customers still come from Facebook to this day.
