Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Crystal Baez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Crystal, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

This happens to be one of my favorite topics to elaborate on. In high school and college, I developed the name “picture girl” because I always had to catch that sunset, or pose everyone to get a group shot which everyone always looked forward to see on social media. My name is Crystal Claira, given to me when the day I was born, since my mother did not know what to name me, and said everything in the room was “Crystal Clear”. When even considering starting this business, I knew that would be the name.. It was so fitting. Once people started seeing my business grow, there was no surprise since it was something I already had so much passion behind. My first camera was purchased for our honeymoon when we went to Costa Rica, and it all started then. My daughter arrived in October 2018, and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of her and learning. I knew this was something that I had a passion for, and decided to go for it, creating Crystal Clear Collections llc, dba Crystal Clear Photography.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I would say I am most proud of how far my work has come. From becoming a published photographer, to maintaining a full schedule while working full time in the medical field in plastic surgery. The cutest part of this, is my 3 year old daughter loves following me with her toy camera, helping me capture anything and everything. I have a great support system from my husband George, who watches my daughter while I attend a session. We are also expecting our second daughter in the next few weeks. I have a true love for maternity, and newborn sessions. Hence the name “collection” which is a package available to combine maternity, newborn, 6 month sitter session and 1 year cake smash. I want to create a story with my clients and grow with them.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Covid definitely made things difficult with just starting out a new business and having certain aspects shut down. I tried to remain consistent on social media and create connections with other small businesses in the area. Once restrictions were lifted, I reached out and did collaborations with business to get my name out in the community. We all have something different to bring to the table, so supporting other businesses is the way to go! Creating friends a long the way.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Right now, all word of mouth and developing relationships with clients, so when they have a friend of family in need of services, they automatically recommended you based on the experience and connection they had during our session.
