We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adrian Dillard. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adrian below.
Adrian, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I’m very happy as an artist. It gives me a chance to express myself and create. Not to mention its cool when other people recognize and inspired from what you do.
Adrian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For the ones who don’t know me my name is Adrian Dillard but Afta Dollas in the music world. I’m the CEO and one of the artists of “Hu$h Money Entertainment”. I started writing music as a teen and started recording when I was 23 year olds. In 2015, I joined forces with a childhood friend and became 2woDifrnt. For 5 years we did 3 projects, multiple singles, and features, and did over 100s of shows locally and out of state. We open up for names like Ace Hood, Montana 300, Bezz Believe, and Jacquees. Had shows in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Miami, and Texas for SXSW. In 2020, 2wodifrnt went their separate ways as solo artists. Shortly after in Feb 2020, Bridget Voyce and I launched “Hu$h Money Entertainment” and signed our first artist F-LOW.
As a Company we offer Music and Video Production. We also have services for clients who need songs written, beats made for songs, feature verses for clients who would like Afta Dollas or F-LOW on a song.
What I want current and future clients to know is that we take every service we provide very serious as it was our own. We have education and certification behind what we offer. We will try our best to always deliver what the client wants in a timely and professional manner.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Prior to starting Hu$h Money I moved from my hometown Lansing to Coldwater Michigan. Coldwater was about an hour away and it became expensive to book studio session and drive to the two studios I was recording at. Having no prior experience of mixing I bought a home studio and began to learn to mix off YouTube and tips I got from one of my engineers and dear friend LaKaz. After about a year and some I put out my first home recored project “Pressure Ep”. I mix and master the whole project. It wasn’t my best work but it gave me the confidence to push forward into Full Sail University a couple years later to learn all aspects of mixing, mastering, beat production, etc.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I knew the business side of music earlier in my career. There is so many resources available for promoting your music through marketing, social media, hiring A&Rs and P&Rs to represent your brand.
