Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marichka Shkuro. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Marichka thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Happiness as being an artist is not just about success or recognition, it is about embracing the creative journey, finding joy in the process, and sharing unique perspective with the world. Doing what you love is the first step to happiness.
Then you need to learn to embrace failure, only by failing you learn and grow.
You should stay open to growth by trying new techniques and exploring new mediums.
You should practice mindfulness everyday by meditating. This helps me navigate the inevitable ups and downs of the creative process with grace.
Always surround yourself with the people that believe and support you.
You should count your blessings everyday and be thankful for everything that you have. Gratitude cultivated happiness.
I always had a regular job since i am 15 y.o. Painting have always been my hobby, so i know what i am talking about.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is MaRICHka Shkuro, and i am a Ukrainian artist born in Kyiv in 1990.
I have been painting since childhood, took part in many international exhibitions, but never considered it a professional job. In my mind, I had to build a successful career to become independent, and only then i could rent a studio and start to paint.
Life doesn’t always go as planned. In 2022, I experienced a war in my country and lost everything. So I made it my career..
In 2022, i had a total of 7 exhibitions in Nice, Monaco, Paris, Dusseldorf and Vienna. In 2023 i sold 14 artworks, presented my big painting in “4 Seasons Hotel” in Minneapolis took part in 3 exhibitions in Vienna, Baden-Baden and Miami.
What sets me apart as an artist is my unique perspective, the way I interpret and express the world around me through my creative work. Every artist brings their individual experiences, emotions, and ideas to their art, making each piece a one-of-a-kind reflection of their vision and imagination.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to evoke emotions, inspire, and connect with others through your creative work. Art has the power to touch hearts, provoke thoughts and bring joy, making the act of creation deeply fulfilling.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I have a mixed view on NFTs. I see their potential for digital ownership and innovation but i have concerns about their environmental impact due to energy-intensive blockchain technology. I am cautious in the speculative NFT market. I believe that some buyers might not fully understand what they were purchasing or the rights they held.
I view NFTs as a double-edged sword – a powerful tool for digital ownership and innovation, yet one that needed responsible use and consideration for its environmental implications.
