We recently connected with DJ Problem Child and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, DJ thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
I was 15 years old and one of my friends (DJ Wildstyle) presented the idea of being a DJ. I already had a love for music because I was in the marching band and played numerous instruments. He decided to choose me and 2 others (DJ Prettyboy & DJ Darkness). We formed a conglomerate called 4play DJS. Our first event was a high school party from a well known promoter in our hometown. Long story short we killed it and became a household name within our peers and high schools in Savannah, Georgia. The rest was history we were doing all the teen parties in the city and also older crowds as well. I knew it was only right for me to continue this passion and get better by the day.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was given the name DJ Problemchild in high school because I was good at keeping people on their feet with music. I started off in the Marching band and became the Head drum major for three years. My senior year I decided to take my passion (Dj’n) seriously and I moved to Atlanta, Georgia and attended Clark Atlanta University. I started Dj’n events at my university and also around the city of Atlanta. I am proud of myself because I stuck with it and never gave up. Along the way I learned how to make beats and that opened up tremendous opportunities. I am an open format DJ which means I am open to all events and I make sure I go above and beyond for my clients. I love seeing my clients satisfied after a successful event.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I do not know a lot about them but I feel like they would be a major game changer within the next few years. I actually want to make my current DJ logo a NFT. I feel like that would be dope and may lead to other things thats bigger than music.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect to me is trusting the process. You just never know when that right moment will be there for you. You just have to keep going every day and be prepared for the moment. I also love when i finish a product and it turns out better than I expected. Sometimes just taking a risk can change your whole life.
